Impact Sites, Why so Hard to find??

With Patch 8, I had a already hard time finding them, but it seems now the 9 update its nearly impossible. Been flying around 3 diff systems, in this last system with 40 some planets and after 12 scanned I finally found a threat 1 Impact site, it was the voyager type and figured well I will have to try the farming style but after the first download of useless data, every return only provided raiders and the data port was always empty,, WTC!!!!! so I can find 50 of all the other planet items (crash, distress, ect...) but then only find 1 impact with junk, Come on!!!!!!!! Even settlements that use to give a couple Manufacturing BP now never drop them, either I have super bad luck or they screwed up the drop rate (more likely).

example... today, I have scanned 8 planets, here have been the results

Minor Wreckage --- 5
Irregular markers -- 7
Crash Sites -- 3
Distress Calls -- 3
Impact Sites -- 0

before I would get at least 2 Impact sites, so don't tell me I don't know how it works.

You don't need to scan planets you've previously scanned as long as you have a DSS on your ship, so that's a start.

brand new system, since the ones I have been to before no longer show Impact site.

I am not trying to be a turd, or sound rude, I do appreciate the help.

I have a screen shot of an example but for some reason it keeps saying "oops, something went wrong, try again later" ..

If you are specifically looking for impact sites, the absolute worst way to find them is randomly scanning planets. Salvage missions that ask you to find assets (not goods) ALWAYS spawn them. The type of impact site is determined by the requested asset as follows:

Small 'voyager' type:
  • Micro Supercapacitor
  • Electromagnet
  • Encrypted Memory Chip
  • Memory Chip

Large cylindrical beacon type (best for manufacturing instruction farming):
  • Circuit Board
  • Micro Transformer
So, while random impact site spawns may be reduced,...who cares? 🤷‍♂️

Edit: Oh, also, if you are doing this to farm data, make sure you don't gather the asset that is the mission target. If you do, the site will not respawn on relog. Should go without saying but...

so how is playing one way, then after a update you find it completly changes not understanding out it works???? logic would say its the game.

In many cases the things you find in a particular system - from missions to the items you find at POI - are heavily influenced by the state and the political alignment of the factions in that system.

As a very obvious example, you will only find conflict zones in systems with War or Civil War states. An Interstellar Factors contact at a station will disappear if that station changes hands, and the same with a Black Market.

So if the system state changes, the things you found before the change may not be there after.

Get a mission "pull xxx from xxx", it's there, always there, even after [??????????], until mission expired, as long as you dont "pull xxx from xxx".

I think that was "fixed" a few updates ago. Not certain though ¯\(ツ)
Nope. Still works great for manufacturing instructions. It's the irregular markers with skimmer that spawned settlement defense plans that has been nerfed into oblivion. At least I haven't seen one in forever but then I haven't been looking either. Fortunately, I got all my SDP in the before times.

I'm finding that doing the Frontier Flop (relogging to menu) doesn't reset the crashed Nav Beacons. This was finding Impact Sites manually though. Anyone else finding similar?

I'm going to try the mission spawning route and see if the reset works on those or not.

I am finding the same issue, it will reset the raiders but the data point is always blank .

Relogging still works if you do it in a Mission POI.

So find a larceny mission to get push/hush/lazarus/whatever from a hidden cache
Go there, if it's the type with two Containers + Crashed Skimmer - you can relog at it for the entire duration of the mission as long as you dont complete the mission by picking the mission item.

Same goes for missions to Impact sites (big and small satellite) or distress sites (eagle or sidewinder with 2 intact panels that may have (or not) 1-2 good Power Regulators)

Have you managed to get the irregular markers with the skimmer to spawn? I've only seen the srv since...I don't know...u6 maybe.

Yeap, more than once in U8 (i have not played much in U9).

Actually the results i got with larceny missions (hidden cache) were more in the favor to the type with 2 Containers + Skimmer (2CSk) than to the type with 3 Containers + Srv (3CSr) - both types work as good. Just my luck i guess 🤷‍♂️
The former is less good for weapon schematics, but it does offer the chance for SDP and some other Security Port related Data, while the latter is better for Weapon Schematics

After taking at least a dozen memory chip missions to find the crashed nav beacon for manufacturing instructions, I finally managed to get one. I must have had super bad RNG as all I was getting was the little satellites.

Anyway the flop still works, so I stacked up on 50 to keep me going for a while. I had some good resets too:
