Bed Logging or pull the ####'ing Ethernet cable out... this needs fixing.

These guys successfully pulled him out of quantum and disabled his ship, they were getting ready to board him when he logged out, i don't know if he bed logged or just Alt + F4, he had enough time to get to the bed before he disappeared, if so when he logs back in he will spawn in his ship bed with his cargo intact, if Alt + F4 he will lose everything.

Either way we are able to interdict and disable player ships for boarding, there needs to be a way to stop people from just logging out or if they do the ship persists.

Well many people do not like full on PVP. Basically btw with that SC is going to limit itself as niche game even if it fullfills all other promises. Unless they really implement that PVP slider thing.

Guy in the vid was pretty convinced he'd F4ed. Seems like the pilot visibly stood up from his seat and then almost immediately disconnected.

Does the game have a way to differentiate between an AltF4 disconnect / pulling the cable, and an honest ISP or broadband or electricity supply malfunction?

So, if I understood this correctly, people whose ISP or broadband, or electricity supply has an issue lose anything in their ship? Noice.

Yes, tho weirdly if the game crashes to desktop you spawn right back where the crash happened with everything intact, same with 30K's (Server crashes) your game is saved so when you log back in you haven't lost anything.

That would actually suggest CIG is actively discriminating and punishing anyone who gets a disconnect, even honest players when it is to no fault of their own.

That Ares nonsense all the pew crew are whining about...and it is just them doing the whining. They bought the thing imagining floating gaily around one-shotting newbies whilst choking on their own lulz... but found to their dismay that the ancient tried and tested Buccaneer...which looks like a pair of huge engines with a few bits of scrap gaffer taped in between them...is flitting around their supposed Uber-ship knocking large bits of it off with space shotguns whilst they can't keep the annoying little Bucc in their crosshairs long enough to fire their capital ship killer space-phallus at it :D

In a shock move, almost all the remaining gameplay slated for 3.16 just got shunted...

The following features are now slated for the 3.16.1 content update at the start of the new year:
Derelict Spaceships - Points of Interest
Laser Trip Mine T0
The following features are being relocated to the 3.17 column, as they are being integrated into that branch:
DNA Head Textures Update
Mining Gadgets

3.16 has just gotta win the 'stuntiest quarterly update' award.

Which is why most people play ED in single player mode, personally i think that was a mistake to allow that, its made an MMO, sort of, effectively a single player game for everyone given with it the MP servers are practically empty.

I have no interest in PVP in ED or SC but i always play ED in MP mode because i want to play in a universe that has some life in it, except it doesn't, does it? :) with that i accept the risk of encountering people who may like my cargo more than me, so be it! i'll put up a fight, i'm not just going to let you take me for a ####.

no.
They did that "single player" mode to attract people who played previous incarnations of Elite and did not want multiplayer stuff. Wise solution considering what kind of gankfest popular player systems are.

Huh. People keep reliably-informing that client-server games don't have combat-logging problems, so are therefore better than peer2peer games that do have combat-logging problems.

CIG at least does something about it.

When prison was first introduced, people would combat log on player bounty hunters to avoid going to prison.

If you combat log on a bounty hunter now, you still go to prison when you log back in. Or if you combat log on npc security, same thing, you still go to prison.
