On which animals would you implement diving?

When do you think we'll get deep diving implemented on another animal? I was hoping to get this through the different updates related to the aquatic DLC, but almost two months later I think I was too optimistic šŸ˜…. Maybe with the next major update along with the 5th DLC?

If the next DLC is Asia, it would make sense to save the gharial for that moment, but what about the polar bear? Will we have to wait half a year or more for that?

Yeah, I'm actually surprised we don't have it for the gharial yet. The animations should be pretty similar to the salty. Your Asia DLC hypothesis makes sense. Otherwise I wouldn't understand why it takes so much time.

To expand on the topic: I hope that with the new diving mechanics we'll also see more diving animals in other DLCs down the line. For instance (and continuing with your DLC idea), a South East Asian Pack that includes the Asian small clawed otter.

Is it available in the steam workshop? Would love to see it 🤩
Maybe I'll consider to upload it. But I would need to change it to be able to upload it (because it's a fully aquatic Enclosure, I would need to add a Gate somehow). Would it also be ok if I would just upload a few Pictures?

Yeah. Great idea. You’ve made me really interested :)
I'm sorry that I've needed so much Time. I use the Forum on my Phone and there where Problems to get the Files on there for some Reason.
Let me know what you think about it šŸ™‚

Deep Swimming added to Gharials
In Update 1.5, we will be adding deep water swimming to the Gharials. In future updates, we're looking at adding deep swimming to other animals in the roster. When we have more to share on these, we will let you all know.

Gharials confirmed :)

With all the Asian pictures in the announcements, I think I was right about the next DLC. We'll see soon!

I bring back this topic. Frontier added diving to many animals during 2021, but the last update didn't add it to any animal. Do you think we are done with adding diving to existing animals and we will focus on adding burrowing now? Or there's still hope to see some old friends dbecoming able to dive?

Personally, I think the Nile monitor should receive diving too.

Tapirs and Elephants should get the Ability to dive too. I think there are even some Zoos with Underwater Viewing Areas for Asian Elephants. I think the Moose also can't dive (?), so it should also be added to it and the Ability to use the Underwater Plant Feeder
It would be cool to see the elephants dive, but how deep would the water need to be knowing the limitations we have? Probably they would need 6 meter deep water or even more. People would complain again about that.

The Malayan tapir and the moose were added to the game after implementing diving, so if they didn't have that ability when they were released, I don't think it's on Frontier's plan to implement diving to those animals unfortunately.

Totally forgot to mention it. Diving Frequency needs to be drastically increased for Polar Bears. They dive almost never even though the Water is a bit deeper than 4 Meters. Also as someone once suggested: now that we have different Depth Requirements, they should be shown in the Zoopedia

Counterpoint: the sun bear was added at the same time as the Malayan tapir, but it got the ability to dive later on. It’s entirely possible that the super clone Malayan tapir gets the ability to dive in a future update alongside the Baird’s tapir. Although honestly I’m not sure if it should even really get full on diving, since every video I’ve ever seen of real tapirs traversing underwater looks more like how hippos behave in game. Giving tapirs and elephants the ability to ā€walkā€ underwater seems like it might be best route to take.

And for the moose, it was added along three other species where deep diving was obviously a lot more non-negotiable. It’s entirely possible that it could also be coming in the future, and Frontier needed to prioritize the other three. Granted, I’m mostly playing devil’s advocate for this one. I don’t actually think deep diving is going to be coming to the moose.

But I’m also not certain we’re going to continue having deep diving added to any old species since it didn’t happen for Europe. 2022 just might be burrowing’s year after all.

I would like to see deep diving added to at least the two monitor lizards, but agree that burrowing will probably receive top priority next year.

šŸ¤” Do Komodo Dragons even dive?
Still wish for climbing juvenile Komodo Dragons šŸ¦Ž
Sure they can! :) Most monitors are very good swimmers, some are just more aquatic than others. In fact it is recommended to have water features in Komodo dragon exhibits and wish this was somehow represented in the game, with water requirement or something.

Out of curiosity, do you happen to know of any footage of Komodo dragons diving? They're obviously efficient surface swimmers, but I can't find anything more than anecdotal suggesting that they actually go underwater.

Either way, I agree that at least the Nile monitor needs to have diving added still. I'm just not certain it will at this point.
