Are there still unreachable systems?

From time to time I just hover around in the galaxy map and this time I was searching for remote places but it's hard to find systems where the density gets very low.

I have not found any systems so far that can't be reached even with a fleet carrier. And I have found no info on the internet about such systems.

So are there any? That would leave open some mystery if we could ever get there :)

Well, you know, it's a game. I'd be halfway to the LMC by now at least if we could really travel 500 Lys a jump.
But to answer your question, I don't know, but I think they're likely all reachable now with what galactic limitations are implemented in the game.

I wasn't even thinking on that scale :D But even if there most probably wouldn't be any special things in the systems itself, it still has some kind of magic attraction to get to places in the game that are unreachable or maybe don't even exist at the moment (like the magellan clouds).

yes, at least thousands, probably millions

That's what I wanted to hear :)

As far as I recall - Horsehead Nebula have dozens of those.

And I wanted to find ME Noveria-like system... :(

EDIT: Oh, by insufficient range... Mostly those in the edge of the Galaxy, obviously. Interior seems to be too much uniformed to have those, apart of previously mentioned permit-locked ones.

Yes for sure. I have a small list that even carrier cannot reach, but i am sure there are many more.

wow do you mind sharing some of those? I was searching the map and the internet and all I found was those special locations like HIP 13044 or the PSR systems...

There seems to be nothing beyond Ishum's reach for example and that place can be reached even with normal ships with a bit of engineering.

Only non generated stars. The generated stars are all reachable now

If this is true then I wonder if it was a decision from a gameplay perspective or if it simulates a realistic distribution of stars as far as we can tell today.

I always thought there must be some stars scattered further out maybe 1000 ly or more apart from each other.

Otherwise there would be a lot of empty space that is still inside the borders of the outer sectors...

Yes there might be some outliers but I doubt that they are not reachable with 500ly range..

I found that non generated stars go way outside of the high/low distribution when looking for the highest reachable star during the FC beta. (My competitor discovered what was later named Rackhams Peak) Near the core there seems to be no stars higher then x (dont know the number). However around Sol there are loads of stars that go higher but they are only HIPs/HDs/etc. You can clearly observe this manually. The same of course goes for the systems below Sol

There are indeed a large number of unreachable stars. Many of them are catalogue stars placed according to the location stored in the stellar catalogues, so mostly not proc-gen. For instance this group of KOI catalogue stars are all unreachable, the closest was just 513ly away, 13ly to far for my carrier;

Did you set a new height record there @varonica ?

It would if I could get to them, unfortunately they can't be reached, some of them are higher than Rackham's Peak, much higher, the advantage Rackhams Peak has is that there is a line of stars leading to it. There are a number of systems so far outside the galaxy map you can't even focus on them let alone reach. For instance if you enter KOI 3242 into the galaxy map it will simply refuse to show it to you, just move away, it will briefly appear then jump away.

It looks like if I could have reached that first star at 513ly away I could follow the path up to higher than the peak, but I just couldn't reach it.

Here's another view with Rackham's Peak included (HIP 58832) the green bookmark to the right of the map, it looks very likely if I could have just got to that 513ly distant star I could follow it out to higher levels.

Thanks! I would have never found those without your help. Maybe if you jump your carrier and right in the moment before it arrives you jump your ship straight from your carrier using the momentum it might work to make the 513 ly jump happen ;)

But seriously, I was hoping for those systems to exist because like I already said it has some kind of magic to it to have some places in the galaxy that are still unreachable...
