It is going to be a lot of fun. At this point I would not take much stock in all the opinions out there as no one really knows. Some suggest otherwise and have posted long threads per "insider information". Did they verify their source with a second one as any decent journalist would do? I didn't see that effort.

But what the heck go for it all. What are we going to lose? It's all a dream and supposition anyway as to what the game will be like in it's final release, and we are all different per what we want given our experience with the Elite games! We also often don't have a clue per what we want but instead react to what we get and decide what we want from that. There are thousands of post on the forum dedicated to that. But that was Beta or even earlier at a much higher cost to start in Alpha or the Kickstarter. Hopefully with all our testing the game will turn out pretty good in December.

No the real issue is FD's release of the game in Dec 2014 and how the world will respond to it. Games and movies have a short life span at times but I do think that FD is marketing the game at the right moment for the best results. We'll see by the summer of 2015. If it goes ballistic then you will see game companies trying to duplicate their success and lawyers attempting to cash in on taking apart their coding per they used someone else. The British legal system is a major pain. That is why it took David Braben 19 years to finally go for ED to get all the legal releases resolved. My opinion. Well it did help per the current technology to make the amazing game we are about to experience become a reality.

Me, I learned a lot about the 3-D spatial relationships with Sol versus all the neighboring systems and where they are located in FE2 and FFE. Given all the astronomy detail added in ED this might replace Planetariums. That would be nice however the priority has always been to make a great game and I'm good with that. So I'll have to await the credits and see how many astronomy professors from Cambridge were used as technical consultants in the game development and if the game got it right.

Meanwhile Space Critters, Contamination...I'm sensing Star Trek Tribbles! Or in this case Trumbles which was used in the Elite games. I know why but am not telling. Give everyone something to research on the net while we await the release of ED! Yes the old timers know but let the new people on the forum figure it out.

I'm getting excited. I've got a 20Mb down/5Mb up internet connection, resolved all the PC, network and controller issues versus Beta game issues and all is working perfect short of some network frame rates and my personal talent in the game. I'm retired, single (well widowed) and have lots of time. Unfortunately Brutus the purebred German Shepherd and Chewy (as in chew toy for Brutus...Yes they are brothers...go figure) might not get as much attention as they would like. But unlike wives and girl friends they forgive us in a heartbeat. I learned a lot about unconditional love with pets. Wives and girl friends could learn a lot about us guys looking at our relationships with four legged friends. But that's another story probably in another forum! Still if you are married with family one could start a much needed thread here to deal with the upcoming relationship issues...

And yes someone mentioned why don't we use the Queen's English in the forum posts. Well being in the USA I have respectively always put an "S" in an ending where we would normally use a "Z" as in analyse and characterise in the forum. The U.K. always had some of the best SciFi and space shows on TV and they deserve to go to space in real life. But I cannot help you with your English accent which given your providence and how fast one speaks the language we in the USA don't always understand it the first time! It is interesting that many years ago David Braben was closer to a non-generic English but now is so very British!

Just my experience per the legal world of Elite over the last 30 years but more into having fun here guys and gals as we await the release of ED. If we are not having fun they why are we here?
