Strange game breaking loading lag comes out of nowhere...

Hey there!

3k or so hours into the game and a new problem has poked its head out of NOWHERE. No config changes with PC, no software changes, nothing nada!

As of 2 nights ago the game has started getting stuck at the loading screens (both primary loading screen when game is started that shows your ship spinning) and the inter system loading windows (war view). It causes my second monitor to hitch and slow down along with it like its strangling my computers resources. I've reverified the game files with no luck. It presents itself with Odyssey AND Horizons.

Anyone have any ideas? I cant realistically play the game when it takes 5+ minutes to load and between jumps. I've never waited longer then 5 seconds or so between jumps...

Thanks!

I decided to reinstall the game just for fun. If it still isn't working I'll guesstimate the reinstall didn't overwrite gpuworktable.xml and will try that.

Thank you Strontium Dog :)

As been posted, it's either something wonky in your computer or most probably some connectivity issues in your area.

Okie dokie, reinstalling the game didn't fix it and deleting the gpuworktable.xml/rebooting didn't fix it. Crap.

Considering it's been happening for days and it seems to make the entire computer lag I'm thinking we have a hardware failure here rather then a connectivity issue. Using a Samsung m.2 by the way. If I can figure it out I will report back!

Reset Nvidia control panel settings, nada.

When the game DOES finally load it plays perfectly fine. What the heck :\

I'd check the Windows Event Viewer logs to see if anything is reported. It could be anything but my vote goes to the SSD and seeing as you are noticing lag in Windows too, I'd guess it's your SSD drive. If it helps I have the same drive and according to the website Samsung Magician software (free download) could help you determine if your SSD is borked. I wish you the best and if the worst comes to the worst, a new drive isn't that pricey these days. My SSD is less than 6 months old, I hope it lasts a while.

Didn't find anything in the event viewer, that was my first go to when everything started crapping out.

I just formatted the disk and reloaded Win10. Everything seems to be working properly now ¯\(ツ)

Glad to hear you got it working. Windows is like the tree of liberty sometimes. Something about being refreshed with the blood of patriots and tyrants and a clean install afterwards. :)
