Is It impossible to put the experimental effect on the FSD v1 now?

Before it was possible to do it. you get the following buggy message

I have not tried it, but I've seen others report that the error message is wrong, and you can actually add the effect anyway.

I believe it is supposed to be possible, based on what FDEV said here -->

Here's 3a fsd. It is IMPOSSIBLE to put an experimental effect in either odyssey or horizons
I remember that after the community goal it didn't work, then they fixed it and it worked. but now it's not working again

No, I’m just saying that FDEV seems to think it should work. If it doesn’t then there’s a bug.
 
The CG Items never had the Experimental effect on them..
Fdev allowed you to add 1 on.. They never ever said they allow you to change it hunderds of times...
They did say they FIXED adding a NEW exp effect to one when there has never been one before

In the latest CG they also now state you can add exp effect but it doe not say you can change it multi times just that you can change it...

this is exactly the first time adding it. i don't change the effect. wiped the dust off my courier and decided to put the effect on the fsd for the first time
 
In the last week of December I added Mass Manager successfully to one of those double engineered 5A FSDs I bought at the human tech broker. So unless something recently changed, it works.

They allways worked
The Gifted 3A (the version OP wants to mod) 4A and 6A gifts Are not the same as Tech broker versions... Fdev change the creation system for augmented free be CG gift versions,
As they needed to go beyond the normal G5 stats for gifts they are giving away on CGs..
The new system allows them to set stats for gifts WAY WAY beyond Grade 5 engineering if they want...

FDEV semi-broke it with update 9 again. There is a workaround however: store the pre-engineered FSD and replace it with a standard E, log to main menu, log back in, and re-equip the CG FSD, and you should be able to put an experiment on it

So since I missed out on the last CG and I don’t have one of the double engineered FSD…what kind of light year difference are we talking about between a 6A V1 double engineered FSD and a regular 6A (both with grade 5 increased range / mass manager)?

I think you can buy it from human broker,if not you will be able soon,difference is 5-7%,as you know depends on weight of the build,paper builds will gain towards max5-7%in ly
