Fired up the game and made went to make a jump, Somehow silent running was bound to my jump button, so i went into super cruise and before I knew it I blew up. No idea why as it was working fine last week, I just lost months of data.... Pretty much fed up right now.

Before you do anything else, open a support ticket:
customersupport.frontier.co.uk
Be polite, they can get you back your data.
Then make sure you have all input devices connected that you had when your binds were working, before launching the game again.

keybindings can reset if you visit the control section without one of your usual devices used to play the game ie hotas , xbox pad etc not plugged in or at that present moment is undetected by windows as it thinks your just using keyboard and mouse it simply rewrites your binds for you...
Lee, I ran into the same issue when I logged into this morning and it was the 4th time I have encountered this. What keeps anoying me is that all my devices I use to normally play always stay plugged in. I did find out what happened with mine and managed to fix it.
I started going through my "Custom.4.0" which was the last one I rebuilt and all my binding still existed in the file BUT elite was not finding the custom binding file. What I found was that my StartPreset.4 file got messed up. It was showing "SaitekX52Pro, SaitekX52Pro, SaitekX52Pro and KeyboardMouseOnly" when it should have been "SaitekX52Pro, Custom, Custom, KeyboardMouseOnly". Once I made this change manually and saved the file everything was restored.
The odd issue is that if I overwrote the file using the one i made in my .backup folder it didnt work.

I am guessing this is what (or something similar) happened - i also use a X52 - and i think the bind file called custom4
my guess as to what happened the game was started at least once with a device not plugged in or detected
the user then visited the control section whilst the device was undetected or not plugged in
so it will revert any joystick controls back to mouse/keyboard defaults not give you any warning it has done this and resaved them for you
hence we rename our bind files and startpresets so it cant as per my guide. (linked by Zieman above)
just bear in mind od is version 4 now and my guide is for hor & base ED only version 3.0.binds
so my bindfile as per my guide for eg now has PUPPYDOG CONTROL4.0.binds for od too
and its presets x 4 all read PUPPYDOG CONTROL
now if you find your backed up renamed bind as per my guide don't work properly it will mean FD have added a new control
like a separate key to clear the id scanner for eg which may effect your old binds by one or two inputs that may need to be rebound but that will or may only happen patch days and is very rare to have any adverse effect on existing binds but it may
so another little adjustment to your binds may be required in that circumstance pending your custom setup

After experiencing similar events since the inception of EDO I have got into the habit of checking my Settings folder in Options as part of my start up routine every time. It has happened at least three times that Odyssey has reset to the default K&M and I managed to correct this before signing in.
Read the title, read it as it took you 6 months to set up your bindings

I have had bindings loss on 2 separate PC. One uses X52pro the other a T1600m.
Neither machine has the controller unplugged at any point but since Odyssey they have reverted to Key Mouse on numerous occasions.
You would think after several years Fdev could sort the issues with the bindings.

Do you use custom binding, SaitekX52Pro, etc other generic or have you edited binding names differently by yourself?
Any way there is even worse daily based binding mess in S_C...
Btw. I use VoiceAttack. I made additional binding set in HCS tool for ED. (Adds "HCS" to binding name) So far no problems.
Avoid to use of original or custom bindings? Those are effected directly by updates most often I think?

if you don't unplug your devices but still get lost bindings its probably because your devices have insufficient power (if you read my bindings file guide thread to my closing statement post 43 in that thread)
the bindings errors log can reflect this as device not recognised etc (or words to that effect)
basically something is stopping your device being read by windows for brief milliseconds what? why? and volts drop is usually the correct answer (without going into the nasty realm of hardware faults)
and a mains socket powered hub is usually the cure as suggested by JuhaEske
a dead givaway to this can be the sound of a usb being hotplugged when its not being hotplugged………………………
a sound you should never unintentionally hear especialy when playing flight sims (can happen so fast and brief it triggers no sound)
(voice attack I wont leave dock without it I don't use hsc voicepacks mind you,
I just made my own from a mish mash of scfi from hitch hikers guide red dwarf and various other sci fi snippets my landing gear is the drop ship hydraulics sound from the 1986 aliens movie for eg ) (I even have 7 of 9 onboard its my Shawshank rita Hayworth thing!)
