Bobbleheads are cool but you guys are missing a big point here:

So you can fly your gay ships throughout the galaxy as well commanders lol
I'm not from the gay community but i think this could be a good and fun addition to the game. The only problem i see is how to fit this in the lore, i mean, would the gay flag stay the same until 3308? How would the gay community/pride fit it in ED's storyline reasonably since sexuality was never an aspect composing the game, like many others such as time travel, a second galaxy, mecha suits (i'd love to see those), other kind of aliens, pet animals,ship interiors etc.
Anyways, i wish FDev would listen to this idea and start doing this kind of addition of content alongside with many others good suggestions we do. Can you imagine bobbleheads and paintjobs of events such as space halloween/christmas, or others based in milestones/achievements, or from yearly community art contexts, or just other kinds of thargoids like the medusa...
The ships are ours, we should be able to customize them to our liking.
Still.. for those of you who seek a better level of customization right away, i'd suggest you take a look in EDHM. It's a great tool that you can use to give a more colorful touch to your cockpits (no pun intended)

I would prefer it to be tie-dyed... I have a thing for tie-dyed cloths and would love to dress my ship the sameI'd go a rainbow paintjob, just because it's a rainbow paintjob
As to a pride bobblehead (would be better as a paintjob imo), go for it.
I want cycling weapon colours that fire a different colour of the rainbow with each shot like the rave gun from battlezone 1998

the question about lore is interesting though as an aside. obviously, the game exists in our world where we do have pride and problems with people who dont want us to have pride so it would be super nice to just include regular lgbtqia+ flags for that reason. but what would lgbtqia+ even look like in a thousand or so years? would there be a need for pride at all or will we have moved beyond having to have a day of celebration in spite of homophobia because homophobia no longer exists? is it even possible for homophobia to no longer exist?

Considering in- universe people are mad that the emperor is a woman, 20th century style bigotry is still alive and well in the 34th century.
I feel you don't actually understand why people have a problem with it or why make succession was/is so important.
Like most things with the empire players look at the surface level through their biased glasses and come to the wrong conclusion.
Only problems I see with the main idea is
1. It could get the game age restricted or even banned in some areas.
2. You open the door to people wanting to display other types of pride flags that are far more charged putting fdev in a strange spot of what to include and how to justify what they don't. Even just in the US or the UK their are many symbols/flags seen as both something to champion and morally correct and others see as hateful.
LGBT isn't immune to this even in the "community" to many it doesn't represent pride but how corrupt individuals took a movement and abused it for status and money.
Im not gay but an animated color changing RGB Corvette is a hard yes on my endI'd go a rainbow paintjob, just because it's a rainbow paintjob
I think you may be confusing Pride events with heavy corporate sponsorship with the concept of pride itself - the community has pride in itself, not the Coca-Cola branded pride sunglasses.
As for age restriction, I don't disagree many small-minded people might (wrongly) argue that LGBTQIA+ identities are inherently more 'adult' than those which are not. But we shouldn't listen to small minded people when making big decisions that affect everyone!
A bobblehead would be a way around this. It's small, unobtrusive, only visible to the player, and hopefully easy to censor in international releases.
Yeah those coca cola sunglasses are no different than the fdev bobble head in that regard.
The community can't even decide what is and isn't okay to be proud of. And their are many considered a part of it just because of their identity despite having an active aversion to the community.
Many of the things said in this thread being exactly why. Our society having tied the idea of a rainbow or some other flag to an identity many of us had no choice in.
However the politics of LGBT+ aren't really a concern when it comes to adding something like this.
But I will bring you back to what flags should and shouldn't be allowed. Inside the LGBT we can't even come to a concensus on this. Safest choice would simply be the base flag ofc but you already have people in here excitedly asking for others.
The very act of censoring it for some releases would cause more drama than it was worth in ed.
