Graphic Glitches at Trader's Rest

I've had a couple of planetary glitches before (terrain smearing and holes opening up) but taking off from Trader's Rest is hte finest example I've seend

Interested to hear if any other commanders see the same?

(Easiest way to view is head to landing pad 2 and face 160 degrees just above the landing pad, and edge forward. In the video I was on pad 4 so had to smooch around a bit.

I have never seen that.. But there is definitely something wrong with your settings or gpu/system
There were plenty people confirming this phenomenon right after launch and I have seen it myself once or twice too back then. I can't confirm Zieman's suggestion that up-to-date drivers might fix this issue, but it's definitely the game causing it.

I still encounter the same terrain morphing issues I saw the first day of the alpha in the current suit tutorial, and occasionally elsewhere.

On my old laptop I saw it quite often (970m gpu) but on my new laptop (RTX 2070) I haven't seen it, mind you the terrain settings in the video seemed to be a bit lower than the ones I use, maybe that's my imagination but I have most terrain generation stuff on max and don't see this sort of thing.

Before I can help you, I need to know which spin the universe was created which you are residing in. We can retrace our steps from there.
This is how tech support replies look to me most of the time.

I do wonder if its related to having Horizons and Odyssey perhaps trying to render the surface its way, so the game gets confused and just goes half way?

Play Horizons instead?... ;)

def a game issue, not drivers. Haven't seen it anywhere else other that Trader's rest, but ya... there's a lot of other planets and moons out there soo could be elsewhere. I'd be interested in seeing an approach to Trader's Rest that DOESN'T show these glitches?

Nice necro!
ETA: There are many bugs & 'features' that have existed for years, this will probably be another.

The most irritating graphical bug I get it the "moving rocks", its very distracting (reminds me of the film Apollo 18 where the moon rocks where alive).

When the graphics engine renders the planet and then the world objects (rocks plants etc.) at the draw distance they are always a meter or two above the surface and then fall into place so constantly grab your attention away from what you are actually looking for on the planet surface (usually plants).

Its as if the coding or object engine calculates the surface position slightly differently than the surface engine (maybe rounding factor or something similar or maybe a different way to calculate the ground position), I also think this is why you see the floor glitches where objects are either just above or below the surface like feet being under the floor or dead bodies floating in mid-air.

It could be an easy fix if everything uses the same coding or calc variables to render objects (i.e. good coding practice) but I expect that FDev would have found a way to hard-code everything to make it an insurmountable challenge to fix which seems on the surface anyway one of the reasons so many bugs don't get resolved.
