Keepers do not feed animals although they are starving

Hey everyone,
so in the last week I've got some issues with the keepers, they do not feed the animals properly when they are hungry. Today it got so bad that two whole habitats completely died out: 25 lemurs, four gemsbok and several springboks all died from hunger. When I call a keeper, they just come look around, say the animals aren't hungry and then they leave the habitat again. I honestly don't know why. I made sure that there are anough keepers for one habitat and there is basically a keeper's hut next to each habitat.
Did anyone else encounter this weird bug?

I asume the keepers can reach the foodstations?
Are the animals really hungry? or thirsty? a had this issue once and after a while i found out that the problem wasn't the food, but the dirty water!

take a look if there isn't a keeper stuck somewhere.
You can click on the habitatgate and somewhere there is a tab where you can localise the keeper.

Had this problem with a few meerkats. Found out they were slower cause they were still babies (big mixed habitat) and when they arrived the first batch of food would be gone and they'd be starving while the keeper was making the next batch. I assigned a 2nd keeper and put down more food areas for the meerkat and now its better than before.

And are you sure the keeper can reach all the stations? Is there a keeper stuck somewhere maybe?

In my experience, as soon as you reach a certain number of animals in an enclosure keepers stop being able to feed them.

I think the issue is that the maximum amount of feed a keeper can deliver to the habitat is less than than the minimum the animals need. I tried a lot of things, such as more feeding stations or assigning multiple keepers, but nothing worked. So long as the food stations (which even full arent enough to feed all animals) are not empty the keepers will not prepare new food.

And yes my keepers are all masters.

Also I believe the same thing happens with poop past a certain number of animals. They just cannot clean it fast enough.

If there is a solution to this I would love to know.

Thanks for your answers.
The food stations are all reachable. I even deleted them and placed them again just next to the habitat gate, and I don't think the keepers are stuck, so this shouldn't cause the problems.
Though, I've maybe found out why the keepers do not feed the animals. I've noticed that in both habitats there is a pile of food but outside of the food stations, so for some reason the keepers didn't put it in the stations but in another area on the ground. But the animals do not eat this food. This is probably why the keepers think the animals don't need to be feed. So, I now have the problem that there is a pile of food that I can't get rid of and which the animals ignore, while the keepers don't deliver new food and the animals die of hunger.

Ah, my dear friend, the classic keeper feeding glitch. I had a similar experience because keepers, once again, won't feed animals if one of their food enrichments is full, even though the animals will still get hungry. I'm just glad this was in a sandbox zoo with deaths off or around 30 lemurs would have starved to death.

To answer skalea, you can have lots of animals in one enclosure without starvation problems. But you would need multiple feeding stations and a couple of keepers assigned only to that enclosure, staff buildings nearby. It is best however that you assign each keeper with just one Task: some only clean poo, while others only feed the animals

Are you playing in sandbox with food spoiling off? If so, then that is your answer. Turn food spoiling back on and everything should work.

Thanks, I always have plenty of feeding stations (often too many for one keeper to fill) but I had not tried assigning one keeper solely to the task of food.

It happened again.... keepers repeatedly enter the lemur habitat, look at the starving lemurs, and say they're not hungry. None of the items are full; neither the feeding tray nor the food enrichment.

Check out this old thread as it has some good info in to about this problem.

Short term idea. Put the animals in quarantine. They will bet fed there. Move them back.

If you have a lot of animals this might not be feasible but I have had to do the with my Japanese macaques. Bought me a little time to fix things.

This has happened to me a few times this year - and I could only fix it by selling all the animals - Seals and Salty's in the three cases, and the problem then went away.

The Seals were all 0% welfare and starving and I kept trying to get the Keeper to feed them - but they would come into the enclosure door and consult their clipboard and then jump for joy and leave. It happened over and over and I had over 40 alerts - but summoning the keeper did absolutely nothing. :(
