Thanks where thanks are due

There are a lot of threads saying thanks ... to DB, to FD, to the team, the moderators and all, but the real heros here are the people that have given their money to a man selling a pig in a poke because they trusted him.

I want to say thanks to all the people that have footed the rather large bill here without much more to go on but hope and trust.

I hope our trust is not betrayed.

Why thank you... Two years since the Kickstarter kicked off... Time flies!

The KickStarter times and the time between then and the release of Beta were very memorable times and great fun.

But... we did only front up the cash and some ideas (some ridiculously shocking ones at times) but FD are the real heroes for doing all the work and putting up with everything that's gone on since whether good or bad :)

Well Im glad I got the the game that I was wishing for, since 2001, every year or two I googled Elite 4 hoping to hear the news that it will be published, then I heard it was on kick starter... I was happy to pledge the amount I did, and it's ticked aleast one of my wishes, so thanks to FD and DB too, just hope the final game get us through several years atleast, coz don'tthink I can wait another decade or two for Elite 5... I'll be ove 60 by then!

You're welcome. It is nice to be thanked. But I don't think we pledged because we trusted David. Almost everybody I know who pledged checked at least once a year to see if there was news on Elite 4. And we learned that is was possible. I didn't pledge because of David. I pledged because I wanted Elite 4.

I didn't think a 'true' Elite game could exist or would be possible in a world full of flashy linear shooters with bad writing and terrible dialogue.

The first Kickstarter videos didn't persuade me if I'm honest - but I checked in from time to time to see how it was coming along, and in the end it was the first combat videos appearing on Youtube that convinced me that here, actually, was Elite.

It hasn't been lost on me that there has been a hell of a lot of community input and genuine dialogue between Frontier and the community, and frankly I don't think that those people involved from the community side get enough of a shout out.

So I'll add my thanks and raise this here glass of Jamesons to the unsung heroes of the community and DDF madmen.

Cheers Commanders!

It's nice to be appreciated as a DDF member.
I surprised myself when I got carried away a few years ago by the amount I put down. Sometimes with all going on in my life I felt disconnected and I couldn't always contribute as I wanted to. But looking back at my posts and how the game has turned out - I'm happy and feel I've had good input. I realise now that's it's an investment and I feel proud that I did so.

Recently in a DDF thread, I mentioned I was proud to be part of the group and our influence (however little) in the game. And someone else, might have been Mike said that there was no reason to be proud because we'd pretty much bought the job. I replied that I bought my language school too but I'm still proud of the work I've done with it.

I hope our trust is not betrayed.

Apparently, Hope, is the last sense you lose just before you die !......
What's with the negative waves? Lighten up Moriarty, I'm havin a ball!

DB and FD have brought all us lost geeks back home...many of us '84'ers!

I'm glad I took a leap of faith and backed DB and his dream....

Being here and playing this 'game', I'm actually quite proud tbh, to be in a group of 57,837 geeks who between them raised over £3.5 Million

57,837 GEEKS! I don't feel so Geeky now....

a rather unexpected gesture, I pledged more than I could afford but like others here it wasn't a matter of trust in DB or Frontier but more to get a game that had to be made,
I remember back in 2004, PCGAMER done an article on elite4, obviously that never happened but when the kickstarter popped up from the man who created a game that spawned so many other wannabes, I had to back it.

every space game after 1984 Elite have all tried and failed to capture the imagination of what the original was all about.
.
everything from wing commander to EVE online was thanks to the Elite game.

SALUTE! Folks!

I too would like to add my thanks to those that could back it in kickstarter. I myself am not financially able to. But as a 84'er I sure do appreciate others that are able. My sincerest thank you to all of you.

SALUTE! And cya in the stars!

Yes, thank you to those people that backed very early. I didn't have the confidence in the game back then but respect to those that did and which meant the game could go ahead.

I have 150 hours into the game so got my money worth even if progress stopped. :)
