Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Still here, the 120mph squall ruffled the fur a bit but no untoward damage except for a few radio dishes on comms towers around the outer islands being blown about and disconnecting us from t'interwebs ...That kind of weather is fairly common up here at this time of year, it's only when it happens elsewhere at roughly the same time that we hear about it from the media :)

According to the long range shipping forecast, we're in for a few weeks of breezy stuff up here.

Makes me want to visit the place. A friend from N. England would like to go visit bronze age excavation but says it's a pain to get there.

Looks like those cmdr's are managed to make the honeymoon last. Next you know they'll be celebrating a one year anniversary.

LOL, you can't help yourself can you?

Please, just one post. Just one, without referencing Elite.

Or perhaps you can change the record to all the NMS players leaving it for SC! I'm sure SC is attracting people from all sorts of games, from Call of Duty to The Sims. SC being the everything to everyone game.

One day someone will do a word cloud of all Dan's posts in the SC thread. And it will be glorious ;)

EA says they'll make a game, and they do, and release them, and they get a lot of flack but also a lot of bucks for it. Actually, all other game companies do that...very backwards to CIG. Or are you suggesting CIg would make more money by releasing a game? I'd agree there.
Was just replying to his Statement that "CIG has more money than any other gamedev" which is hilariously false.

You seem to forget they're developing 2 games, Squadron and SC. How much goes into Squadron, how much into SC?
They have exactly zero official releases. Per released game, their budget is infinite.

And again, that other game that is nowhere to be seen, takes everything from SC. It is in no way "separate". It only adds mocaps, VAs and video sequences to an already existing code and assets.

But yeah, RDR2 literally reused the engine and assets and cost 2B to develop, I know.

Squadron takes non existing salvage from SC, non existing locations, non existing ships, non existing missions. Squadron takes place in the Stanton System!

SQ42 uses assets that are developed for SC anyway and as such, it is literaly reusing them. You can also say SC is reusing SQ42 assets, I do not really care. The only non-common part for both are videos, mocaps and voice acting.

Not really, and it wouldn’t matter anyways: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_expensive_video_games_to_develop

Many of the top games in that most expensive games list have both a single player campaign and then a very different and separate multiplayer experience. Like SC is supposed to have one day. But even if you disagree it really does not matter, if you divide by 2 the SC expenses so far and removing the marketing component, SC dev costs halved still dwarf most every other game in that list.

No matter how you look at it, the waste of funds for SC is outrageous especially when considering there is no product released yet after 10 years.

You seem to be forgetting that they were supposed to be one game, but CIG later decided to remove content from it, and sell it separately to make more money. It’s a good thing that CIG isn’t like those evil AAA publishers, who cut content from games, only to sell it separately to make more money… 🤔

Jesus does this thread moves FAST. If only development moved as fast...
Lot's of catching up to do. In the refugee camp things seem to be as busy as ever:

Kate and Skunks seem to have gone full mil sim commandos:
Hawks exposes all the grievances new players have to endure for no good reason:
Black still getting starstruck with the bling visuals between racing with the speed freaks:
Drew got taken along with other refugees to marvel at ship interiors for 2 hours:

Looks like those cmdr's are managed to make the honeymoon last. Next you know they'll be celebrating a one year anniversary.
The railgun is a very effective defence weapon against ships if you're on foot, fun too.

So ? Can't I? Many other posters, you included, reference Elite when posting in this thread. Or Is it only allowed when it is to mock Star Citizen?
Are there special rules for this thread? Cause all around the forum, Dangerous Discussion we're allowed to post about other games when discussing Elite just fine. even if it puts Frontier in a bad light.

Haven't had the opportunity to fire that weapon, but that video makes it tempting.

They originally sold them as a single, combined pledge package, it wasn't until several years later that they split SC/SQ42 as separate purchases.

And the early pledgers got both Chapters 1 and 2 of SQ42! I bet they are hyped for Chapter 2: Behind Enemy Lines. Imagine all the new mocap they will have to do for that. There might even be another mess hall scene!
