If you insist on misrepresenting "my" problem, then you will not learn what kind of problem it is.
Oh, and look at that feedback thread. It is not "just my problem".
I know you guys feel threatened because FDev changing things makes you feel fear and uncertainty. Hush, whatever they do with my feedback, it won't hurt. Well, at least not more than engineering, and you are mighty men who can handle THAT boredom.
The alienation that I feel whenever I see the barter economy standing in the way is just too large.
What could be done to make me use engineering?
Feel free to add your own perspectives.
Firstly, nobody here really cares more about your "problem" than about anyone elses' problems. Specifically, what might make you use engineering may be different from what others, including the target audience of the game, enjoy using it for.
I agree that the bartender thing is annoying. There is a good idea in there, although what the bartender fences versus what other fences, well, fence, should be different. The bartender should be an information source.
Also, shouldn't there be some level of trust involved before strangers approach you with illicit suggestions (beyond a specific subset)? Then again, we have a nice button in the docking menu labelled Black Market, so maybe not? It is what it is - there would be all sorts of whinging going on if we were "forced" to walk down a dark corridor and rap a code on a maintenance door to access black markets and such. People (like you?) want everything to fall into their laps with the least possible amount of effort.
Lastly, you are posting in a forum (a place for debate) and in an open suggestion thread. Your input would have been much more targeted at the devs during the "alpha".
Take the suggestions people have already presented you and try them out. Your issues are not really issues for the devs. You are half a year and ten patches too late for that. Adapt instead, that's one of the marvels of the human condition, that we can adapt to the circumstances facing us.
