Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

As vape says though this is supposedly the most stable build they've had in a while in terms of server crashes. The only real new perennial bugs are stuff like ships exploding when you run down a ramp. (Although plenty of other old perennial bugs exist, like death from running near things, death from your helmet unequipping itself, death from killing yourself because your ship suddenly got re-stored at a station while you were mid-travel leaving you stranded. Stuff like that.)
Those things dont really happen that often.

I mean, the stairs killing you in 3.15 (i think) was a thing. You'd die all the time. But most of these other random deaths are pretty rare.

The one that gets me most is my ship ramming into something that I'm assuming is invisible and exploding.

They had to get rid of the roadmap. The guy that crosses things off of the roadmap has suffered a repetitive strain injury, and is no longer available to cross out most of the items on the road map. Additionally, their workmans comp insurer will no longer insure them if they continue to put employees into a job with such a high risk of injury..

Spectrum is so fascinating right now., It is not often that the CIG defenders are all out in such force parroting the same incorrect message. Though in fairness, they are just parroting what CIG said. The CIG backers were very well aware that the roadmap were not hard and fast set in stone promises. Well aware of that. They were well aware that things could and almost certainly would change, release intentions would not be met. Peoples frustrations were boiling over because they felt as if CIG were taking them for granted, or just ignoring them all together. The glacial pace of development, the buggy mess, the marketing, and a bunch more is what the backers are angry about...so CIG sidesteps what people are actually angry about, makes up something, then blames the backers for something CIG made up. And the CIG defenders following in lock step...

seeking help on the RSI forums, and was told... er, where to go and what to do with myself.

Just wondering if its in a better state now, and not really getting the impression it is!

No, the community is still toxic as hell if you dare to question the greatness of CR's vision. :p

If you have problems while playing SC, and want to vent and ask for help, do it in game, not on the forums. The people who actually play the game are usually friendly and helpful and will be sympathetic to your woes.

That's why they need a producer, with a budget leash. Stop noodling around with useless features and pixel peeping, start coding an actual game. Having a core game feature delayed for 8 years (!!!) is beyond unacceptable, it's a joke, or now since they blame it on backers, it's an insult. Adding injury on top of that by spending months of development on a coffee vending machine, or previous useless fluff like the whisky glass simulation that turned out to bring server performance to its knees... That's millions of dollars in development, wasted on nonsense, instead of doing the much less immediately visible but more important core engine.

You know what CIG should do right now?

They should issue a clarifying statement saying what they really meant by people having the wrong expectations was they were really referring to refundians! Its all the refundians fault. They are just haters forcing them to do this.

This will give the faithful a target to hate, someone to rally against and shift the blame from CIG!

You see, if you can point to a minority group and blame them for all problems and get people to focus their hate against them, it can work really really well. I think it was some German guy who demonstrated this.

That Kotaku article is right on point.

I know working with a video game community at the best of times can be a trying experience, and working with the same one for a decade must be especially frustrating, but you can’t say that part out loud! That’s the stuff you say to each other on a Friday afternoon after you clock off and need to vent with colleagues over a beer/tea, not in a post that’s going to be read by millions of people!

Oh noes, someone who left Sandra for Vanessa is not happy with how Vanessa has been treating him...

I do not know the source or the date on this one. I'm guessing its fresh and in response to the current outrage, someone stepping up to bat for CIG.

And allegedly this one has never posted to /r/sc before

Just based on his dulcet tones, this fits...

Although he still works a ship giveaway in. Amazing...
That is actually spectacular, apparently it had not even been a week from his last video in which he was actually explaining how the press gets CIG wrong... Way to prove him wrong CIG! They guy seems to be quite upfront admitting his error though, so props.

His last "step into my office" part is is quite worth it too.
