Please restrict SYSTEM CHAT to the system I'm in...

I don't understand.
Since odyssey launched, system chat not only displays messages from the system you're in, but also those in systems you've visited since you logged in.
So, for instance, if I visit shinrarta then go somewhere else, I'll receive shinrarta's system chat until I next relog regardless of where I am.

So if I go to Deciat, then Shinrarta, then a CG system, then head to the newbie zone, I could have my chat full of all sorts of nonsense and have no idea which of those messages are coming from the system I currently occupy.

Oh, and my outgoing messages only go to the system I'm in so it's entirely possible for me to see someone asking a question, fire an answer back, and the poor guy that asked it will never receive a reply. Meanwhile, the people in the same system as me wonder who the hell I'm talking to.

Ah, so it's only in Odyssey then. Fair enough.
Thanks.👍

Yeap, this is the behaviour.
I guess the initial issue tracker was not clear enough formulated and was closed: by design
And the next expired

So yea, guess it will be one of those bugs that will trail long enough, unless someone menages to catch Sally's attention - and NO, dont ping her during the weekend 😒

The fact that the devs haven't encountered this behaviour themselves is proof enough that they don't play the game. At the very least they don't play in populated systems.

One day visiting a CG during busy hours and then jumping out of system (so any trade CG that requires them to leave the system) would have them receiving messages from the CG while they're not there within minutes.

I never see anything in system chat, oh wait I never see anyone in the systems I am in anyway...lol. I have always assumed system chat is restricted to the current system, must be a bug.

I got it last night when I was doing a run of all the omega grid beacons. A couple of messages came in after I left and I have no idea which system they were from but they definitely weren't from the system I was in as I'd buggered off into the black to go bio-hunting and was getting first footfalls.

I don't understand.
When you enter a system. Your "System Chat" in the comms menu. So you can chat and read chats from others in the same system. Then, when you leave that system - you will (for some unknown reason) continue to see chats from that system. What's more; if you attempt to respond to any of those chats - the only people who will see your response are those in the system you're currently in.

Until you log out (at least to the main menu) and return - it will continue to relay messages from the previous system.

FDev have stated in the 'issue tracker' that this strange behaviour is "as intended". Which makes sense only in that one might be kept abreast of a continued conversation that one might have participated in. But there is no visible way to turn off this (feature) nor is there any visible/logical mechanism for switching from one system chat to a new one.

What's even more frustrating, is that there have been support tickets in the issue tracker regarding this obviously bugged issue. Each that I've seen/found - have been dismissed by FDev by stating that this is behaving as intended. Which - I cannot for the life of me understand; Why would anyone "intend" for this to work this way? WHY!? LoL
