Simple thread posted out of curiosity.

If you could change only two of the first four DLC into an animal pack, which ones would you pick, and what animals would they include?

Keep in mind, whatever pack you choose will lose its scenery, so in this hypothetical you're sacrificing that.

Edit: I'll also exclude the Deluxe Edition "DLC" because even though it is technically DLC it's not in the same spirit as the ones that came after it.

Australia Animal Pack
  • Dingo (if I had it my way I'd swap this out with a Huon Tree Kangaroo and make this an Oceania Pack)

  • Southern Cassowary
  • Eastern Blue-tongued Lizard (Exhibit)
  • Common Wombat
  • Superb Lyrebird
  • Tasmanian Devil

I've edited the OP to exclude the Deluxe Pack because it barely counts, but Australia is interesting. It was my first thought, too, but the scenery is phenomenal in that pack so I wasn't sure if I wanted to lose it.

I'd probably go with Arctic and South America myself.

Arctic
  • Polar bear.
  • Dall sheep.
  • Arctic wolf.
  • Reindeer.
  • Muskox.
  • Wolverine.
  • Snow goose.
No exhibit animal as per the original pack.

South America
  • Jaguar.
  • Colombian white-faced capuchin.
  • Giant anteater.
  • Llama.
  • Capybara.
  • Spectacled bear.
  • Maned wolf.
  • Red-eyed tree frog (E).

That's part of the "challenge" I guess - what scenery set would you be willing to sacrifice?

I use the Arctic wood a lot but the Arctic Pack also came with all the Christmas decorations and ice-palace pieces that I never use. I use some of the South American beams and bamboo pieces for decor but not the overthemed jungle temple pieces very much. However both the Australia Pack and the Aquatic Pack scenery sets are, IMO, too valuable for what they are for me to give up.

I keep thinking about deleting the stupid Christmas decorations but I use the Arctic wooden pieces, the Aquatic pebbles and steps in every zoo. So I guess it's Australia and South America even though I like the rusty stuff and the temple ruins and bamboo.

First one for sure I'd change is the South American one. Really just don't use the scenery and even the prefabs that often. What I'd add in would be the Capybara, Maned Wolf and Three Toed Sloth.

The second one is really difficult. I know I would really want to add more animals to the Australian one, but honestly, I use the building pieces a lot. As much as there's three specific other animals I'd add in I can't sacrifice the building pieces. This was a hard one to not include to be honest.

So...I choose the Aquatic set instead, because I also love the Arctic building sets and there's not a lot of animals I'd feel I'd have to add in. I like the Aquatic pieces but not as much as some other sets. What I'd go with here is the Platypus (giving us another Aussie animal at least), Asian Small Clawed Otter (yes, it's a second otter but I don't care lol) and a Pacific Walrus. and I had to reach into that one to include the Walrus....which I don't mind but gosh, this was a painful choice between Aquatic and Australian.

Considered Australia but the scenery pieces are just too necessary (and the foliage...you can't have a koala without eucalyptus). The Africa Pack drinn grass would also be a devastating loss, though.

Oh. In that case I'll actually punt, since I couldn't sacrifice the Arctic wood, the Australian sheet metal, or the Aquatic...everything.

Alternatively, I'll cheat and get rid of only the Christmas scenery and ice sculptures in exchange for a single exhibit animal (European adder)

Arctic: Must Ox, Roosevelt Elk, and Wolverine (Technically, I'd prefer to move the Moose here and the Roosevelt Elk into the NA pack instead)
South America: Capybera, Maned Wolf, and Giant Armadillo
Australia: Emu, Tazmanian Devil, and Wallaby (Not sure what species, but one that works for a walkthrough)
Aquatic: Florida Alligator Snapping Turtle, Pacific Walrus, and Duck Billed Platypus

It's almost funny how South American pack is on almost everyone's list. I'm not saying it was bad pack, but comparatively it's luster has definitely faded after nearly two years.
