Apologies for swooping in on you quite suddenly with this on your Thursday morning, however at approximately 12:00pm UTC today we will be deploying a small hotfix to address some stability issues experienced with Elite Dangerous: Odyssey.

It's a short and sweet one again today, Commanders! Please forgive the quietness yesterday - it can get very busy 'behind the curtain' here at the moment and attention needs to be spread accordingly, so thanks for being patient regarding CM tags, messages and responses. You're all mega important.

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Commanders will today recieve a Hotfix to address a number of key stability issues.

Odyssey only servers will flip briefly offline from 12:00pm UTC with minimal downtime required.

The hotfix download will be available shortly after the downtime (as usual I'll be in touch here anyway).​



Updates of note:
  • A number of fixes to address stability issues have been been implemented.
    • Some of these fixes contribute further to tackle the plight of crashes encountered when loading Odyssey from the main menu.
    • Further code stability support fixes have been implemented.

I would like to note the Black screen of death seems to be sticking to this game a lot.

Elite Dangerous certainly knows to make hotfixes but the problems still do occur. I call the black screen of death. I don't feel so optimistic at the moment.

Does anyone get the thing where the screen goes blank then switches to desktop? It's not like a full on crash because the game is still running and I can just click the icon on the task bar to resume playing. It's not totally game breaking but it is quite annoying and could potentially lead to a mission failure or death. This glitch is a pretty frequent occurrence for me. Please don't ask me to fill out any tickets, I can't be bothered any more. I'm just curious to know if it's happening to anyone else.

Most likely you press some global combination or enabled mode "sticky button" (for 1 finger people).
I don't have issues with Elite, but, for example, alt-tabbing skyrim and back makes "alt" always pressed until I press it again.

Magenta Krait, as well as the game crashes to the desktop, sometimes during the game the computer restarts, inside the station and on the planets in the settlements in the game there are strong friezes and the FPS drops to 40. Flying low over the settlement, the FPS sharply decreases to 20-23. FPS in the game is not stable constantly jumping randomly 120 - 90 - 73 - 53 - 45. What should I do?

Do you have an Epson printer?
I used to have this issue, as the Epson driver periodically checks for updates, and will minimize any full-screen apps when doing so.

This issue of crashing on the Comms menu still is present and not fixed at all :(

EDIT: i have tracked this down to one friend named CMDR bod69er who also happens to be having the issue of not being able to launch odyssey and crashes on main menu. When i unfriend him i dont crash but if i re friend him its insta crash on comms menu when he is online in horizons. Tried this method 2 times now.

Yes, I have same issue and can confirm it is happening only in full-screen mode (not in borderless). I thought it could be related to the joystick, but not 100% sure. Happens exactly once per session.
