I'm here.
SCG is currently mimicking CIG development. Because in order to produce the BDVGDC (Best drat Video Game Development Company Documentary/Comedy), I have produce it like CIG makes the BDSSE.
The longer answer is thus:
Technology is hard to parse into conversational layman, and it's made even harder when you're looking at Architecture Astronauts like CR looking for tech that magically solves problems that other gamedevs have completely avoided out of practical sanity's sake. I'm also trying to avoid wild speculation. I mean, I could've predicted CIG would be where they are now way back in 2018, but I would have had little to no proof or evidence of that assessment beyond guessing and (literal) FUD. So I've been doing due diligence of actually learning this stuff as best I can, while allowing time do most of the "how can you tell" explanations with both lack of progress and some kernels of salience from unusual places.
On the writing side, I've got a good idea what I want to say, the trick is figuring out the best way to say it, which is related to parsing tech into layman. So much has happened, been analyzed, and been presented, in these last 3-4 years in terms of CIG's tech development march, not in terms of actual progress, but in figurative wound scabs being picked at. I can't pretend I'm gonna pick the best of the bunch when it comes to available material (because there's been so much over such a long time), but I'm trying to make sure what I reference is relevant, not just funny for a quick distracting laugh.
In addition to this, I've had to transition my video asset tools from Photoshop to GIMP (due to an incompatibility of the... off-market Photoshop disc I got back in 2005). I'm almost comfortable with it, but I'm not quite there yet, because there's some slightly complex images I want to make as animations for a particular segment. And I still need to decide if the current video editing software is up to task with these complex-ish animations.
Finally, it's been a weird couple of years for me. My editor, for whom I credit for absolutely making chapters 5 6 and 7 into the best products I've produced in this series, has drifted off into RL problems, realities, fatigue, and simply enjoying life. I wish him all the best, and don't blame him for losing steam to keep up with this dumpster fire. Subsequent attempts at finding editors has been a failing on me for finding a correct fit of back-and-forth collaboration, as well as having equivalent wealth of knowledge that fills in the large gaps I have in my knowledge. And I've been kinda self-frozen by the bar of quality I set for chapter 7. If this was just regurgitating the history of the project, it'd be a lot easier, and a few videos other than my own have been able to do that. But SCG isn't just cataloging history.
I dunno, this has been a hell of a mountain to climb, and I'm stuck on a midway-up summit.
