The CG text is the CG text. Questions were raised here (and in the other thread) about whether 1 tonne was enough, so I checked with "the source" and they told me Top 75%.
Once new information about a CG is known,
@Flossy & I endeavour to make it as clear as possible to people what that is both by posting in the threads and, where appropriate, updating the first post so people just checking there and not reading the whole thread won't miss it. Much easier & quicker for us to do that than for a dev to divert from their day job and tweak the text in game, once the tweak has been agreed and approved ... Will the CG text get updated? Maybe, but not likely as we're at the end of Monday already.
You and Flossy do a stellar job, no one here would question that, I guess, and you relay the information you get, word for word, so there is no critique here: you do what you have volunteered to do to a high standard.
On the other hand, it's your source that can be lacking, possibly due to some internal disconnect.
The text of the CG says something that is different to what official sources are now telling us, and I can understand that it could have been a honest mistake but its consequences, no matter how trivial (tiny virtual lights in a videogame: who cares?), should not be borne by the users.
Some people have committed their limited gaming time to this particular event specifically for this reason, because they have been mislead by an incorrect description.
When I go to a shop, if I see a price tag on an item, I expect to pay that price: if it was priced incorrectly it's on the shopkeeper, not on me.
A price can be binding to a contract, a CG reward is nothing like that (again, it's not a contract, it's just a videogame) but showing commitment to one's word, even if it was based on a typo, would show an amount of integrity that would go a long way, especially in a time when there is a lot of negativity and speculation due to lack of communication, which further undermine an already precarious situation.
For the record, I am well within the top 75%, so I am not advocating for my own tiny little lights: it's just a matter of owning one's own mistakes.
