Are there any Nebulae?

Hi I've explored a good amount and I've noticed there are no Nebulae, does anybody know if there are any or even if they are going to implement it at some point? If not I'll be very disappointed it's supposed to be as close to real life as we can get. We could harvest minerals from them, explore them can you imagine how cool it would look, please if you know tell me where they are or when they plan to implement it.

Thank you fellow commanders.

Yes.

Zoom out and look for the blots on the map.
You're probably not going to be able to ''harvest'' them, though. I don't understand why you would find more minerals there for any reason anyways.

They are all there and supposedly in the correct location. Stating the blooming obvious but the galaxy is huge,

Witch head, horse head, spirograph,NGC 1999,messier,flame nebula just to name a few. Our bubble is too far away to see them, as we jump closer they will get larger on the starfield until we are eventually up close and then jumping to stars within them.

Just had a quick check, I think Messier 78 is the nearest to our bubble, about 641LY away. I found a giant star SYNUEFE GD-Q D6-55 nearby

Visually, you can see some nebula. They are not reachable in Beta. When the Gamma is released, that will be a different story.

The two massive clouds we can see from our cockpits are not actually in our galaxy. Does anyone know what they are called?

Well there is the Andromeda Galaxy, but I don't think that is what you are meaning. I think I've seen those clouds too, but I don't know what those are.

I seen the some nebulas in ED. Theres Orion Nebula which is in the wrong position at the moment in ED. Messier 78 also known as the reflection nebula. In the Orion constellation, and theres the also the horsehead nebula also in the Constellation of orion. For some reason the orion nebula in been place in the opposite direction.

Actually, if you were to go inside a nebula in real life, it wouldn't be too much different. You'd still be able to see long distances, it isn't thick like fog or anything, but the distant background would be slightly colored instead of black. Nebulae only look dense when seen from a very far distance, they would get more and more diffuse looking the closer you got.

Just on the galaxy map, and they have no real bearing on the game or the gameplay. Just kind of interesting little landmarks.

Hmm, nebulae are nice looking from distance, but that's from distance - within one a dust particle might have nearest neighbor no closer than a mile.

I just don't get these statements, 'nice from a distance' we are a tiny spec in our ships, we are always from a distance. Nebulae are insanely huge

So I keep hearing your kind of comments a lot on the forums. Fair enough, I do understand that the density of known nebulae is extremely low. However, since Nebulae stretch across lights years, surely once inside you will still be surrounded by distant structures of the gas clouds in 'ALL' directions. So, it is correct in assuming we won't have super low visibilty like in other games/movies, but we will still know that we are inside an absolutely massive structure??

Also surely some Nebulae will have dense regions?

There are. Specifically ones found in forming star regions, where you'll see planetary nebula or other various pockets that can be extremely dense. Though far less common, these are regions where if you were to enter them would hypothetically look like you were floating in a glowing colored gassious cloud that would obscure objects more than a few thousand kilometers out, however realistically it's unlikely that they would actually be dense enough to mimic the effects one would typically see in a holly wood movie, though IMO its a vastly more interesting representation that can even bring interesting gameplay elements and be a breeding ground for emergent gameplay.

I don't know if it's a bug but not all nebulae seem to be there, for example, this is what i get when i search for the famous and gorgeous eagle nebula:

Interesting area of stars there.

Strange, thought I had seen the Eagle Nebula. Found a whole bunch of others while searching - Dumbbell Nebula, Aquila dark region, Hip 63835,spiral planetary nebula,Monkey head Nebula.

HIP 63835 contains two black holes and a Neutron star :/

EDIT - Wow, take a look at the fine ring Nebula (Sorry if it has been posted before)
