Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Who says it needed to happen last time? Stanton wasn't complete, the game was even more bare bones than it is now, and a global pandemic had just started.

Let me put it this way, if you say something is happening, and it doesn't happen, then later say it's happening and it still doesn't happen, why should people believe you the third time you say it's happening? It needed to happen last time not for any technical reason, not, in fact, for any reason other than they said it was happening. What makes you think this time it's different? Really, that's a question I am asking!

Why is it different this time? Well, I am noticing quite the shift in CIG. Look at back at patch trailers pre 3.15 for example, pretty much faked content, not really what the player would experience. Now, 3.15 onwards it looks to be a lot more honest, for example being filmed purely ingame. Ontop of that, you have the actual network team making the announcement that they're aiming for a Q3-Q4 Meshing release, not Chris in some fancy presentation.

So you are basing your entire argument on a feeling that this time it's different? You haven't presented any evidence, just "feelings".

If it doesn't happen you will be quitting and refunding? Or giving them more money and another chance?

Take a look at the trailers, there's a concrete difference in what they used to show vs what they show now. We've also not had Server Meshing broken into individual tasks on the roadmap before, We've also got a degree of persistence with the new inventory system, cleary, they're making progress.

No, because I can see clear progress being made. I'm not giving them any more money, either.

Is SC on Steam?

It seems that only CIG is allowed to show support on this matter... any other post made to show the same support got insta-deleted.... nice move CIG, as always

I'll make my own cocktail in game as detailed in this 2015 design doc for a ship they sold 7 years ago for $400 and haven't even started any work on past the concept sale. https://www.robertsspaceindustries....804-Design-Notes-Civilian-Passenger-Transport

Don't get me wrong its good they actually bothered to put at least a handful of the lore they created into the actual game, but what they have bothered to put in is often wildly inconsistent with the rest of it. Walk out of that bar and look up and to the left. You'll see a faded ice cream banner advertising Xi'an food in the Xi'an conlang they paid that guy to create, yet the Xi'an don't vary the temperature of their food and they only eat spiced carrion.

THE YEAR 2948 THE YEAR 2948. Set 930 years in the future, Star Citizen takes you to a time when Humanity has spread through out the stars to dozens of worlds. However, where we go from here is far from certain.

Thats actually the game's release date :)

The current in lore year is 2952! The release was delayed by 2 years... which it will be every year, therefore making SC's release impossible!

So, Question: "how do we fool the fans into giving us more money?" Answer; "behave as if it looks it is working successfully."

You do understand this is what they have been doing all along, release just enough data in the right way to convince backers and potential backers they are really making progress and will keep donating. Of course there's a concrete difference in what they are showing now, because everyone has already seen the old stuff and it's not fooling them anymore. It's all a smoke and mirrors game, you just up the standard of the scam material.

Alrighty, no use of discussing with you further on here, SCAAAAAAAAM!!!!! LIARRSSS!!!!!!!

Why does every single discussion on here derail onto "But they're doing this to fool you, you see, there is no game being made! It's all smoke and mirrors, you are being scammed!" Do you not have any other arguments to present? Other than this conspiracy bulls*it?

You haven't put forward any concrete evidence yet for why you think it's going to be different this time, just feelings, that's what they rely on, it's what they all rely on, you have a feeling.....nope there's nothing, they change the way they put stuff on the roadmap doesn't equal, "it's different this time."

What's the problem? People build railways in minecraft too, and that game has survival mechanics and it's fun.

Let me try to explain why this is absurd:

Minecraft is a building game. It's a game were people build things because its fun.

Minecraft has a survival mode. Survival mode is so people who enjoy building things because they find it fun can also play a survival game, which they also find to be fun. If people who don't find survival games fun, but do enjoy building things, they can play in creative mode.

Naturally, rail enthusiasts will build rails. So will people who enjoy experimenting with the game's mechanics. They don't build rail systems because it's a faster mode of travel. Rails take much longer to build than the time saved by using them. It's the building that makes them fun.

Star Citizen is aspiring to be the best darn space game ever. Which doesn't have orbital mechanics, properly scaled planets, a proper flight model, or very many game loops. But it does have completely unnecessary commutes which will only be done once by most players, and survival mechanics which lack the supporting game mechanics that make survival games fun to play.
