Milkyway star phenomenon

Not that I think we need nova added but hasn't fdev repeatedly edited systems moving things around like planets clipping into one another ect, without it requiring everything to be redone?

Yes, because the mass for the system is already there and doesn't need to be adjusted, they can hand craft systems to an extent that doesn't require them to remove or add to the total mass of the system.

Even a change in mass would not affect surrounding systems immediately.

Really cool suggestion, I wouldn't mind seeing some new sites or phenomenons.
Even a tored planet, ravaged by some planet to planet collision or moon.
A planet cracked, (a la dead space scenario, lol) with lots of leftover materials floating it's circundant gravity pull.

The supernova could be announced well before it's occurence so that every cmdr could be present.

Could it be done in ED anyhow? I suppose it would require some massive undertake no.

Resurrecting this thread because it didn't really answer my curiosity. Also because I recently completed building my first wonder of space megastructure in Stellaris recently. And having a blast being superior in defensive capabilities from owning and residing in it.

Why is it out of the 400,000,000,000 ? stars in the galaxy that FDev has made ZERO mention of a Dyson Sphere? Not even a tiny tease of a hint that could trigger the next massive CG to an unexplored dark nebula? There are soooo many of these dark nebula and locked/reserved star systems. But not the slightest mention of a Dyson sphere?

Technically due to it's absurd size, it wouldn't have originated from nothing Homo Sapiens. And so would have to be alien based i.e. Guardian or even 'Goid origin.

This could be a good opportunity for FDev to come up with a themed DLC which let us explore a certain region of space. Uncover alien tech blueprints individually and/or as part of a loosely structured CG effort. Then once enough blueprints have been discovered, build it as a coalition of humanity. There are tons of single star systems with zero planetary structure perfect for such a mega structure. Imagine the Armageddon that could commence once the sphere was built and all 3 PvE factions +/- independent sandbox players began to populate such a mega structure.

400b systems, we've visited 0.028% of them, maybe they haven't been mentioned because we haven't found any yet. FDEV have said at times there are things in the galaxy nobody has yet found, who knows what that might be.

Ok. So are you saying FDev DID insinuate a Dyson Sphere (or more) may actually exist? But that these are inaccessible due to FDev locking system? We have a TON of explorer cmndrs since the game started. Guardian tech/worlds have been long discoverd. So HTH hasn't a phenomenon like this not been uncovered to date? Or is FDev pulling our leg?

No I didn't, all I said was that FDEV have stated there are things out there in the galaxy we haven't found, now it could be a Dyson shpere, it could be another alien species, it could be a ringworld or it could be none of the above, no-one know because we haven't found them yet! And no I said nothing about locked systems, these are obviously not locked systems or they wouldn't be there for players to find. You certainly added a lot of words to my statement that I never said or implied, maybe not doing that would be a good idea!

Sorry. Wasn't trying to put words into your mouth. I have ADHD see? (actually no not really. I didn't put any reading comprehension into your reply).

But seriously, I've been playing way too much Stellaris lately. 😂 I recently completed a Dyson Sphere for a custom species in Stellaris. And have become obsessed with this mega structure as a new plaything. Here's to hoping FDEV did think to include a unique phenomenon like this in the galaxy somewhere

Yep, around 100 seconds. The Astronomy division of Cornell University seems to agree with me so I don't think that's in question. What you see with your eyes isn't the explosion, it's the expanding cloud of gas and the leading shock wave of the explosion being spread out over time as it travels through the galaxy. Because different particles and debris travel at different speeds it appears that the explosions lasts many days, but it doesn't actually, it just gets smeared out over the vast distances between you and the explosion.
Light is old. We could arrive in advance of an event, knowing it's specific time and location of occurrence using FTL travel. These could be short duration CGs or in-game events.

The in system space could be saturated with temporary lagrange type clouds loaded with resources for mining or scooping.

Time doesn't pass in the ED galaxy so that's not going to happen. A Nebula you view from 100ly, 1000ly, 10,000ly away is exactly the same when you are right up next to it whereas in in the real galaxy it would have changed, time doesn't pass for the galaxy.

Maybe there could be nova star systems and actually supernova star remnants? I'm missing these from the ed universe.
also could it be possible to create user events like the birthing of a nova or better: supernova?
That would be cool!
Ring planets dont even cast a shadow. U expect supernovas?

Sad but true.

We have plenty of supernova remnants, we just can't have actual stellar phenomena in real time, which I agree is a pity, but I can imagine the computing power required to run the entire galaxy in real time and I don't think we can do that yet! Maybe the next version of ED

At least let rings cast shadows on their planets saturn does it.
