Console Update

You should give it a try, It's improved much since launch.
I may do, but it would have to be the same quality gameplay as Horizons to rock my boat! I bought ED as a space game, & as an extension from the original 1984 game. I dont really get into infantry games...it’s space exploration, finding new things & puzzle solving that I enjoy.

I am perfectly happy that FDev cannot continue to support Consoles but..................

Please come up with a way to transfer ALL of our PS4 and X Box accounts to the PC. Personally I have bought another PC copy of ED and installed it so I have done my bit - I have played on PS4 3 years, I have invested time and real cash in modifying ships with ARX, I have spent countless hours grinding materials and engineers, it is morally, ethically and possibly legally dubious not to provide a way to transfer all of this to the supported platform if you guys pull support for PS and Xbox. Merely allowing credits to transfer is not good enough and you know it, the grind was set up by you guys in the first place.

Just for once guys show some moral backbone and find a way to make this right with Console players.

Thanks

Jonah Lloyd
I totally agree with you. I used to play this game many years ago on the spectrum. Fantastic game back then and have just recently got back into it on my Xbox. As above I have done the same in a short space of time but will be very annoyed to say the list if they do not transfer everything over. They need to sort this out now.... Come on FDEV. you wouldnt be happy if you were on the receiving end........................!!!!!

a lot of us are grateful for the opportunity to enjoy this game for so long and we also have spent countless hours building our characters; so much time and money are involved during this process… could you please at least allow us and whoever wishes to continue this journey, the opportunity to transfer their profile and progress to the pc version of the game?

I switched on my Xbox Series S, and for the first time in a very long time, I felt lost. I have been doing a lot of BGS and trying to take control of some stations in my system, I was getting very close to forcing a war between 2 factions. I know that may seem dramatic but this game has been played pretty much every time my console is switched on over 5 years, 100s if not over a 1000 hours of gameplay.
I then spent the next hour looking through Game Pass and seeing what I may want to play next but I came away empty. No doubt there'll be something to play that I'll get into but for now, I think I'll give it a few days to sink in that Elite is no more.
I made the difficult decision to delete the game to make way for the game/games I decide to move onto next.
Even though the future of Elite is PC only the game is still running as it was prior to this announcement and, as much as it may sound trite to say at this time, FDev have said they're looking into console to pc transfer options and will announce something when they have it figured out, or not. So, carry on commander and try to think of it as a similar situation when GTA / Minecraft / xgame players had to call it quits on the Xbox 360 and move on to the next generation, I would imagine a lot of those players moved to the PC version at that time too, even if it wasn't a forced decision for them.

It's sad to hear this, I have been playing Elite since its launch in 1984 on my Commodore 64 then various other devices, then was ecstatic when I got to pay it again on the Xbox then in the Series X. So I will still be an Elite pilot but will miss the fact we never got the chance to experience space kegs/ Oddesy.
I hope we the community still on console get something out of this as not everyone can afford gaming PC or the time to restart.
Maybe scrap Fleet carrier maintenance payments on consoles some little more CG for us to interact with as we will no longer have any story base lose to chase now except what we do the now in game as it feels like you have just abandoned us and kicked us to the kerb as you have a shining new toy ( that from what I hear from PC player is still broke )

That is being looked into as I think there is something of a contractual issue where a developer can't just move people freely between platforms. You'd think it'd be the sort of thing that might get waived right now, but it might be out of Frontier's hands.

I understand that porting individual console accounts might be too labor intensive for Fdev. Nevertheless, it would be a meaningful gesture if Frontier gifted all current console players a PC account. And not just any PC account, but one with enough credits to purchase and maintain a Fleet Carrier for x amount of time, enough credits to buy many many ships, liberal arx, and a completely filled hold of ALL engineering materials. I understand that ranks might be lost as well as all exploring finds, but any tools to make it easier to regain would be at the very least, something.

[EDIT] also all engineers and most permit unlocks.... any other suggestions?

I find this all so fascinating. How does one arrive at the point of creating such a deeply initiate and personal relationship in their own mind with a company to explain such raw reactions? It boggles the mind how a person can create such a personal relationship, and then lash out so emotionally raw when their self created vision no longer matches reality. Many of these responses are what one might expect when a real life person discovers their intimate partner has been having an affair.

Frontier is a publicly traded company. In all probability, a large part of their decision to port to consoles in the first place was to jump on the console port money grab bandwagon that was all the rage back then. In all probability, further console development is likely not worth it any more in a cost benefit analysis. Frontier is in a far better position to make that determination than anyone here on the forums, and companies are not nearly as susceptible to the Sunk Cost Fallacy as emotional individuals.

CMDRs.. Looks like i'm retiring Elite from my series X so... if i was looking to maybe at some point buy a PC to run this (depending on the state of it in the next few months) what are we talking requirements wise and cost? Refurbished machine maybe? Genuine question sorry i am a 50 yr old complete PC luddite! haha. cheers all! o7

Yamiks is a toxic clown who milked this game for hatesubs for at least a year before he finally got binned off from here and from any official recognition when FDev had had enough of him. His role in any downfall would be minimal because to suggest otherwise would be affording him a level of importance which he just doesn't have but he certainly contributed to the peanut gallery. He was the Richard Hammond of streamers though, an irritating little sycophant scampering around the big boy's table.

Would it not be easier to just hand out 'you won the game' stickers?
