Norton indicating Installer is a Virus: Suspicious.Cloud.9

Just bought this game, and went to install. Comes from something like s3-eu .amazonaws.com . Norton identifies it as a Trojan virus, and tells me not to download it. When I checked online, other sites also say Suspicious.Cloud.9 is a Trojan and to not download it. Is there another way to get the installer?

So long as you are downloading it from Frontier, then it is perfectly safe sir. Best thing to do is temporarily disable your Norton Firewall, once downloaded, disconnect from t'interwebs, and install. Then re-enable Norton firewall. :)

Michael has put his own few lines of code in this slaving your machine to the Cthuloid Overmind. It should cause any major problems unless the Dark Gods decide to return in the next ten years. And even then it's probably in your interest your machine has in turn slaved you.

Norton is REALLY good at picking up cthuloid slaving.

Weird. My Norton's has never had an issue with the installers. It does tend to dislike new files tho, because it likes to compare them across its user base.

na, its the bitcoin miner they included in the game, how else are they going to feed their pizza addiction between releases?

but seriously, Norton is known for its false positives.

once upon a time, norton utilities for DOS and norton disk doctor were excellent products.

then, after the suite for Windows 95 was made, they became terrible products.
thus it has been ever since.

lesson: dont use norton :)

But you were right to check and please raise a ticket for it. If it happened to you then it could happen to others and FD should be able to flag to Norton to "wind their neck in" when it comes to E: D

What do you use?

That raises a good point. To all those IT experts here in the forums, what is the BEST antivirus software? (excluding Norton as my subscription has expired and I don't want to resub).
My uni uses McAfee, so that must be pretty good, right?

Not an easy answer as everyone will have an opinion and all of them are likely to be valid. In the past I would have said to stick with MS Security Essentials but they are getting a fair amount of negative press now. It's very unobtrusive but not the best at detecting a virus (in fact no where near the best).
One site I use for comparisons on all sorts of (free) software is http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-anti-virus-software.htm

OMG, ED install has been succesfully INTERDICTED by Norton Antivirus! No escape vector given.
