So what fdev is say to concole players thanks for you money but we are not keeping to what we said so everyone on console will have to live with the shoddy gaming experience that we have

It’s almost as if FDev never put out an Odyssey trailer for console or anything. I guess I’m not really watching the Odyssey trailer on the official Playstation Youtube channel or anything. Phew. For a second there I thought all of those things happened and were promised. o7Doesn't impact me due to my new hardware, but if it did, I would go and upgrade my computer without frothing at the mouth about how technology marches forward and requires investment to keep up. If a PC gamer can't afford hardware to address new technology changes, they adapt by either 1) Not playing it because they can't 2) Not playing it because the performance is below their standards 3) Playing it at reduced performance.
Or I suppose I could be a console gamer and just assume my console is going to magically play everything flawlessly from here until the heat death of the universe.
Gaming is a luxury, not a right, and you need the $$$ to play.
I really hope FDev expected a massive departure of console players as a result of this news. No one in their right mind would expect them to stick around after being told they don't matter anymore.CTRL ALT D-ELITE
Yeah, and they’ve already dropped the ball on that one.
It’s more or less too late for the vast majority of console players who left ED for good within the past 24 hours, I doubt many who remain, would take up the offer over the handling of this situation.
Greetings Commanders,
Elite Dangerous is a game close to my heart.
It’s no secret that Odyssey’s launch was less than ideal, including the need to split the PC/console player base to focus on a PC-only launch. Since Odyssey’s release in May 2021, we have worked tirelessly to improve the Odyssey experience on PC, and whilst we have made great progress there is still more to be done. We have been supporting the pre-Odyssey and post-Odyssey codebases since.
Over the last several months, we have been wrestling with the best way to move forward, and it is with a heavy heart we have decided to cancel all console development. We need to be able to move forward with the story of the game, and in order for us to do this we need to focus on a single codebase. Elite Dangerous will continue on console as it is now together with critical updates, but we will focus on new content updates on PC on the post-Odyssey codebase.
We appreciate this news is not what our console community were hoping for. This was not an easy decision to make, but it was made with the long-term future of Elite Dangerous in mind.
just get our saveI would suggest giving console players a one-time port option, with no time limit on using it, to port their games over to PC. It just seems the least you could do. That gives them a chance to continue on with their accounts on PC at any time, you know, because PCs are expensive, and so are consoles. It might help mitigate the blow somewhat, but it's not going to help everyone.
U can transfer but u lose all ur progress and just keep ur cash and arksCan you give the options to transfer their account to pc, and if possible give them discount for odyssey purchase? I think that would make them go back to ED
I transferred my account to the pc had to start from scratch but I transferred my money and my account over to the pcHi All,
Note that nothing has been announced regarding account transfer from console to PC beyond previous posts by FD community staff who have said it is under consideration.
Forum users posting incorrect information about a facility which does not currently exist, will have their posting privileges curtailed.
There is nothing to announce from FD as yet on console account transfer, beyond the already existing mechanism. I would wait to see if further information is provided.Love how it’s fake news when I transferred my PS4 account over to the pc
I only did my last year and I was giving people a heads up at what happens if they decided to transfer due to personal experienceThat was a facility provided 2 years ago, and is not relevant to the current situation.
Fair enough - I agree on that side, my bad. However, it may be worth holding out to see if FD come up with a better transfer mechanism meantime.Love how it’s fake news when I transferred my PS4 account over to the pc
I agree if console players who can transfer to pc would be better wait for more updates but I know my PS4 squad are debating not undocking witch is sad coz they was a grate laff and helpful to all new starterWell of course it is, because they haven't announced anything yet. However, one of the CMs has said it's under review. So to do it now, may be in advance of something more robust.
What's getting conflated is not the console asset to PC credit transfer that FDev offers, but that for a short period of time, XBOX and PC could share full asset game saves. That was several years ago and was removed because it was unintentional functionality. So far from what they updated 5 months ago it’s still the same note I do my research before posting so I know what I’m saying is currently what happens if accounts are transferred at the time being
No - I'm aware of that - and hopefully that gives console players some hope that a transfer is possible - although I have no idea if that's the case - I'm just a player like anyone else. (not an FD employee remember). What's getting conflated is not the console asset to PC credit transfer that FDev offers, but that for a short period of time, XBOX and PC could share full asset game saves. I believe that is what Slopey is referencing as an off limits topic at this time.
