Console Update

And you followed along like a Pavlovian pup for an entire year, banking your hopes and dreams on a trailer?

It's 2022 and you're a functioning adult, right? You should know by now that corporations lie. As a gamer, you should know that trailers, concept art, and all the hype material put out beforehand almost never reflects in the actual game.

If your only defense is "b-b-b-but they made a trailer!" then I just feel bad for you.
Is false advertising still a crime?Asking for a Friend .

One for all, THEY HADNT THE EFFORT OR THE MONEY to bring elite on the next gen consoles. Therefore this decision seems to be taken very back into the past, remember when they didn’t can confirm a release of EDO on console.

for me it’s simply distraction from the truth, meanwhile they made more money then back in the days, but nothing going into elite, a half baked product released after 4 years of development in this state? It’s a total shame. And then requesting patience from a community part which was separate so long ?

Fdev should reconsider their promised company goals, because all of them are simply lied.

I thought you left?

t. We need to be able to move forward with the story of the game, and in order for us to do this we need to focus on a single codebase.
The players are already creating the story and should be left alone to do that. FDev trying to steer the narrative are in fact ruining the game for those of us that are doing great things with the game. Add content by all means, bit do not diss the players with your version of the story.

We appreciate this news is not what our console community were hoping for. This was not an easy decision to make, but it was made with the long-term future of Elite Dangerous in mind.
The only way to safeguard the long term future of the game is to respect all the players. Including the console players who you should have allowed to play cross platform from day one.
Even those of us that have been loyal to every version of this game since '84 feel let down by the attitude of FDev and the lack of communication and respect given.

Sega-CD did great things. Silpheed still is one of my biggest gaming shock ever.

Absolutely loved that. But try Soul Star!

Yep, that one was a killer too! But it reminded me of Space Harrier while Silpheed was a totally new experience back in the days. And in the same category, Thunderhawk was also a milestone.
The lack of a mention of Snatcher is almost criminal.

That game alone was worth buying a Mega CD for and getting mocked about it (when all my friends were either on the SNES or on PC/Amiga).

Still lurking around like an ex that just doesn't get the message?

I've been out in the black since Odyssey dropped, waiting for PS4 news and avoiding the other forums as I didn't want to stumble on any spoilers. Was just journeying back home when I read this post, not sure for what purpose now as I am still a long way out. Will probably finish the journey, sell the fleet carrier and mothball my ships. I really thought ED was always going to be there for me, PS4 short term and PS5 longer term, but that door has now been closed, I guess I will wait for Bethesda Starfield and see how that works out.
o7 cmdrs, it has been a real pleasure, signing off now, over and out.
Erm... You know Starfield has been cancelled for PlayStation don't you?

I must have completely missed that part, can you point me to where its been said by frontier?
Like most important details, they are markedly absent from FDev communication
Communication is important (and I fully realise how ironic this sounds on fdev forums, believe me).
If only forum mods could police the dev posts to foster such communication.
A budget laptop isn't an option here, but the options that will work are not at the super expensive end of laptops either, which is frankly misinformation spread by those who have agendas. My laptop is in the latter category and 0% payments spread over 6 or so months can potentially be affordable if the upfront cost is too much, it's what I did with my son's laptop.
This is part of my issue with the way this was announced. Last year I redid my gaming setup got the Series X and a new TV to take advantage of all the features. In total I spent around $1500, obviously most of that being the new TV. This was done under the assumption that I would be able to play everything including my (then) favorite game, ED!

I have zero inclination to go out and spend even more on a rig to play a game that is being mismanaged into the ground by a company with a history of stringing customers along and annoying updates. Space legs is the biggest post-launch addition, and it has been botched almost every step of the way. Fleet carriers were a delayed mess, idk if the ice planet updates ever happened, powerplay still sucks, the Thargoid story has been mostly stagnant.

This is a game with so much potential, and always will be

Again per Dr. Kay Ross, "work was ongoing across multiple teams to optimise and port to consoles" when she left the dev team in October.

I'd be more inclined to believe one of the most respected developers in the genre and that Frontier ever had about this than some people going through histrionics on a forum.

Hate to disagree with you here old fruit but Fdevs version of the story IS the Story, they are the ones spending the money developing the game, most of us don't get involved on player driven stuff as we are in solo.
To ask them to stop driving the story becasue a few players disagree and think they know better is a bit arrogant (no disrespect intended).
