One clone I'd really like

And I'm arguing that it's an unhelpful approach to the problem. You could argue that scimitar oryx and addax have more morphological similarities than gemsbok and scimitar oryx, and thus it's be easier to make a scimitar oryx from a non-existent addax base than it would from an existing gemsbok base. The entire debate hinges upon how we weigh visual differences between different species. It's way too subjective to say anything based on looks alone; we need a quantifiable approach and genetics can help us get there.

If the game wants to educate people as strongly as the marketing says it does, there needs to be an emphasis on genetics.

I know that the animal that I am going to request is very much different from the animal that it is “based on” by both taxonomy, morphology, and habitat, but I am surprised that no one has brought up Eastern grey kangaroos. Or that is just me being biased towards them.

I'd definitely like to see them in the game! They're probably my #2 most wanted "clone" , only behind the American Black Bear. But given we have several types of bears and one type kangaroo in game, the Grey Kangaroo would be the better option to bring more variety.

I'd prefer a wallaby, but I wouldn't sniff at the eastern grey kangaroo - they're the only kangaroo species kept in New Zealand, which is just another step closer to being able to build a realistic New Zealand zoo for me (still impossible absent at least the kiwi and tuatara, and a temperate map in New Zealand instead of "grassland" or "tropical").

Frankly, I’d like both (in fact I’d like the Eastern Grey and 2 wallabies - Bennett’s and Yellow-footed) but, given that’s unlikely, I’d prefer a wallaby for more morphological variety,…. Bennett’s for more ecological variety.

I know it’s not exactly one to one clone but I would really go bananas for Striped hyena. I think it could use the same rig as the Spotted hyena. They are definitely one of my favorites species out there and I loved them in zoo tycoon desert sections of my zoos.

I'd really love to see the American/Caribbean flamingo, for the following reasons:
  • Represents Mexico (9 habitat and 7 exhibit species currently), the Galapagos (1 habitat species currently), the Caribbean (1 exhibit species outside of Trinidad and Tobago, which has 3 of those and the Caiman), and arguably Florida (3 habitat species, 1 exhibit)
  • More vibrant and (imo) beautiful color than greater flamingo
  • Though less common in European zoos, it's not rare, and I believe (? no sources, going based on anecdotal evidence) that they're the most common species in captivity in the US
  • Adds another bird, though it wouldn't benefit diversity much
  • Would likely represent aquatic and tropical biomes; perhaps it would be allowed a higher foliage coverage
Honestly, as a (heavily biased) American I would have preferred it as the species of flamingo in the base game, to help the game not be quite so heavily tipped towards African animals.

The two clones I’d love to see are the Wisent and the Eurasian Brown Bear. My ‘Europe’ sections just do not feel complete without two of the most charismatic and notable European animals!!!
The Wisent (or European Bison) is the heaviest wild land animal in Europe and is a conservation success story (having been hunted to extinction in the wild in the past, before being brought back by captive breeding efforts).
The Eurasian Brown Bear is Europe’s largest land predator, and is one of the most notable of European wildlife. Despite being so similar to the other two brown bear species in game, I believe adding the Eurasian Brown Bear in addition would give players choice when ultimately choosing what brown bear subspecies they want in their zoos.
I am definitely holding out for a European Animal Pack featuring these two wonderful animals, but if not, to have one of them feature as a future anniversary re-skin animal (more likely the Wisent)!

It’s unlikely but you could do an entire pack of clones that would work thematically:

  • Iberian lynx
  • Iberian ibex
  • Iberian wolf
  • Cantabrian brown bear
