Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Last time i checked EDO on foot performance was no better than Star Citizen, which is amazing considering the difference in graphics fidelity.

Oh are we celebrating CIG’s transparency again? :)
You can. You know all of they succeeded, delayed and postponed deadlines (you know them better than most backers).
Pyro still missing but Pyro still worked.
And with the new roadmap, it's even simplier and clearer to follow.

Anyone who knows CIG’s atrocious history of roadmapping vs deliveries knows that it’s not something to be celebrated Ant.

And that includes you.

But if we're throwing Pyro onto the transparency pile again, when would you say it's likely to appear? :)

This still does not make sense unless your goal is to shill for SC or you were actually in CIGs payroll directly or indirectly. If a console player that wants to play EDO decides to buy a PC why wouldn’t he play EDO?
I mean, there's plenty of reasons a player switching from console may also not be interested in EDO. Mostly centred on the Horizons client being all round better performing, and more likely to run at a decent smooth fps on whatever PC hardware you buy, so all the more reason why in most such cases they'd still keep playing Elite, not switch to SC.

Transparency gave you some dates by the past which were wrong.
Being transparent on what you want or try to do doesn't prevent you to be miscalculating (which is a CR speciality). The world is full of deadlines not respected by miscalculation, that's what gives you crunch for devs and half baked games or extensions (CDPR and FDEV for the last 2 famous exemples).
Transparency now says 'when it's ready' for SM and Pyro and let you see how much guys are working on each part of it.

There is also still a big questionmark hanging over account transfers. If I was a console player buying a PC to play a spaceship game I might consider Star Citizen because I wouldn't be able to face the massive grind I'd require to get back to where I was in Elite

So, here is some news.

The Pilot has got a job working for CIG. Not sure in what department, he didn't say. Maybe marketing, maybe he's got dev skills.

Interesting how CIG keeps hiring from its fanbase.

I wonder if they pay them in JPGs.

I wonder how looks like a transparent development in your mind.
There are not many strictly literal transparent developments out there. Most projects always need to keep a certain level of confidentiality about what they do. Some more or less than others. It is just relative. Projects like Subnautica, Battletech or Squad reached decent levels of transparency. Star Citizen on the other hand not only it is not really transparent but it actually misrepresents and misinforms, which is worst than no information.

What's your take on the tasks roadmap and the cards roadmap of CIG and how would you do in their place ?
