Is there a way to start with a better ship in the Single Player portion of the game?

I have 2 kids, I barely have time to play games nowdays. During my bachelor years it was great playing X3 or a Freelancer and obtaining all the upgrades by hard work. But nowdays in order to me to play something as involved as Freelancer, X3 and Elite Dangerous the way I want to play (bounty hunter) would take impossible amount of time.
Therefore, I was wondering if there is a "item or money" cheat for the SINGLE PLAYER portion of the game? I would like to jump into the game, hunt few ships without being blows to bits and then call it a day (at most I would have 15minutes of free time).

Thanks

I know I will get a lot of flak for this but such is life.

I'm wondering over that. It really wouldn't be a problem to have cheats in Solo Offline. It might spoil the game for some people, who I know simply are not capable of avoiding using cheats, but hey, it's single player. They would only spoil their own experience.
Also, I would really like if the tutorial scenarios would feature different ships. These scenarios could be expanded to cover important parts of the game:

- Interdiction
- Fleeing from a superior ship
- Preventing a pirate victim from escaping without destroying the cargo
- Large ship combat
- Capital ship combat
- Trading

Indeed.
If I only have 15 to 30 minutes of free time and I want to vent I would like to jump into a single player experience, equip my Vorlon Like ship and go plinking my anger away.

P.S.
I guess I am a Cylon I can't get the captcha right.

If you've already bought into the current Beta, or you pre-order the Mercenary Edition, you'll start the game in an Eagle instead of a Sidewinder. The Eagle is a great bounty hunter in the early phase of the game.

You'll still have to earn some cash for weapon upgrades, but you can dive right into bounty hunting with just the "loaner" pulse lasers in an Eagle and have fun. Play a little at a time, build up your flying skills, and gradually upgrade your ship. It might take you longer to get into whatever ultimate ship you want than someone with lots of free gaming time, but this isn't a race, and there is no end game.

True, but honestly I don't see the harm of allowing folks to edit the item list or resource file or any other way to "Cheat" in a single player portion of the game. Especially if the single player portion of the game can be playable with the network cable unplugged.

I see only one Problem .... The Game mechanics in ED are not so much of Ships like in X .... YOU really must learn to Fly throu the Galaxy, and you better stuff makes it easier, but you still needs lots of fly time, so I didn´t see where a cheat can help if you don´t have enough time. But in General I think if you play offline it is your game...if you like to cheat its for decision

Elite Dangerous has single-player offline mode ?

I'm playing the beta and there is no option for this, only Solo Play which also requires internet authentication (username/password).

I think I saw a debate on whether you should be able to buy credits for real money which would be one way around it but I'm not sure which side of that argument I would be on. I haven't seen anything on having cheats in offline mode but if it isn't doing anything with the servers other than authenticating the usual tricks (which I will not go into here) might work and would appear online fairly quickly.

equip my Vorlon Like ship

We are all Kosh.

I miss that show.

My question to tempnexus would be what does he plan on getting out of the game? Is it that you want to script yourself in the biggest, baddest ship just to have it or is it just to blow off some steam shooting down ships in 15-30 minute bursts?

As far as I know you will be able to play Single Player offline, without your internet connected... So I imagine that your pilot's file would be located on your hard drive, it might be possible to edit that and give yourself a lot of credits.

Also, never be afraid to play the game your way.

Good luck.

That's basically it. Once the 2nd kid leaves the diaper phase then I will have more time to explore. I was an avid Freelancer and X3 player before I had kids so I loved exploring, but so far my nerves, sleep and patience is low so I just want to vent via destroying other ships.
