Ship Impounded After Paying Bounty

Hi,

I incurred a bounty trying to do something. I went to the authority it was with and paid it. I paid the bounty. I get some message about getting sent to a detention facility. Boom. My ship is gone. Now I'm in a basic sidewinder. What is this? What kind of game does this? I paid the bounty. How do I get my ship back?

were you in your ship at the time?
sounds like you selected the wrong option or didn't have enough credits
for some crimes, and NOT IF
if you were in your ship when you paid, you get sent to detention
then you get a screen similar to a rebuy
the correct selection pays the fines and gets you in your ship
the other option = no, and you fly away in a sidey or whatever other ship you might own if you own any.

That's how C&P works, you need to pay the bounty at an interstellar factor not related to the faction you incurred the bounty from. Basically by going to the authorities you are a criminal who handed yourself in. Your ship should be at the station you were transported from if it didn't travel with you to the detention facility. Since I don't tend to incur bounties I am aware of the rough procedure but not the details, someone will com along soon to help you I am sure.

I have plenty of money. I was not offered the option of buying my own ship back.

Were you in your ship when you paid the bounty or did you pay it in the concourse? Have you checked the galaxy map to look for your ship marker to see if it is still at the station you paid the bounty at?

Hi there. Thanks for responding. I was in my ship. I had landed at the station and paid it through the contacts tab. It was in a system controlled by the faction I had the bounty with. Could you tell me what the ship marker looks like on the galaxy map? I didn't plan for my ship to get confiscated, and it was all very unexpected, so I can't remember what station I was at before I was sent to a detention facility.

did you find your ship?

easier to use the shipyard and look for that ship, rather than the map and the ship icon
all ships you own should be visible to you at any station that has a shipyard.
there are exceptions/glitches and odyssey takes the lead on that.

are you using Horizons or Odyssey for all this?
I would try to make sure to use whichever you were in when this happened.
how many ships do you have?

For future reference, never hand yourself in when you get a bounty on you. They will always send you to jail, which can be very inconvenient. Instead, you should go to any station or outpost in a low security system, where you will find an Interstellar Factor, who will sort out your bounty as long as you don't have notoriety from killing someone. If you do have notoriety, you have to wait for it to go before the Interstellar Factor will deal with you, which tkes a couple of hours.

The bounty doesn't count in any other system, and if you stay in the system where you got it, you only have to stay away from the police.

Like...you know, a little yellow ship, a sidewinder! Check the system you handed yourself in at and the detention ship system. In theory if you handed yourself in the idea is your ship should travel with you, sometimes that doesn't happen, but as said, check Inter Astra or the shipyard from your ship and it should tell you where all your ships are.

Side topic Does EDO have the past Travel line in galaxy map...
As Teleportation did still trigger that grey line in EDH... and pointed to the Start location with the big line...
