I'm in Colonia where can I buy an Imperial Clipper

I hear Colonia isn't involved in petty politics of the Bubble.
same since 3300 :rolleyes:but I have no illusions that I am just a slave with a false sense of freedom...…………….
as its called a monetary system
basically when it has your face on it then its yours.

Bit of an oversite on FD's part not giving stations in Colonia
Imperial ships are only generally available at Imperial stations - and Colonia was founded to be fully independent of the superpowers. Not at all an oversight.

Anarchy factions do also sell superpower-aligned ships if they control a suitable shipyard - but there's currently no shipyard in the region that an Anarchy faction could even theoretically capture which would stock Clippers. Some medium Federal and Alliance ships, and the Imperial Eagle, could be made available with Anarchy factions in control of the right stations ... but other factions want those stations more - there was a big multi-year fight about it a couple of years back.

What about player owned Fleet Carrier ships yards, can they sell Imperial ships?
Don't have a shipyard on mine so don't know.

All the stations in Colonia are independently owned by player factions. The only way to buy the Imperial clipper (besides finding a fleet carrier that sells them - if you have access to the fleet carrier) is a 48-hour flight back to the bubble on one of the many carriers that taxi back and forth. Be sure to use one of the ships with the longest range because not too many of them can land near Jameson's in Shinatra Dezaera (sp). That's how I got mine.

Before I consoder travelling back is the Clipper worth the effort.
I use my fully engineered Python 90% of the time, opinions of the Clipper compared to the Python.

Clipper is a niche ship.
Very fast but totally outclassed by the Python in any role that does not rely on Clipper' Speed.
Python is also a Medium pad ship while the Clipper is a Large pad ship - thus limiting its usability even more

I personally used the Clipper only as a Core Miner.
In multiplayer some people are using it as a Pirate ship.

I tried the Clipper as a core miner, my thoughts are it is a little large for core mining. I use my Cutter as a cargo ship for those 50 million wing missions....Everything else is Python. My go-to combat ships are the Corvette and the Krait MK II

Clipper's a cool ship, and Imperial whips are clearly finer than Fed bricks, but the Clipper is a ship caught in many minds. Like Northpin said it's a niche ship. If you can carve one out for it then it can be a nice one to have in the fleet. The slot and hardpoint layout means it's not optimal for any role, but of course that shouldn't stop you if you find it appealing. Core slots are nice, speed is great. The issue with the optionals is that if you use the class 7 + 6 for say cargo space, you're limited to a class 4 shield. If you go bigger with the shield you've cut out a big chunk of your cargo space. And then what size scoop do you end up with, ya know? Slots are befuddling on this one in regards to build theory.

I'd say it's a ship you buy because you like it not because it will be a marked improvement over the Python for most roles. And I certainly wouldn't fly all the way from Colonia to pick one up.

The Clippers one of those ships that's been in need of some TLC (buff) for ages.
Like others have said it's nice ship to fly, makes a nice core miner but not being able to dock at outposts holds it back a lot.

I've used mine occasionally as a rescue ship from burning stations, not because it's particularly suited to it, just because that's the one I set up for it and what a lovely ship to be recued in.:)
