Or to put it more succinctly the roadmap is this:

I really wander how people think that making sarcastic remarks etc helps FDEV to find focus and strength to make our game better.
The answer you seek is nestled in a cache atop a mountain on Polaris 2a, Once your deemed worthy you will be given the permit and all will become clear. o7

I see your point @ jhaprins

On one hand, it helps vent some steam (frustration)
On the other hand, I doubt it's distracts F.Dev at all.
The roadmap image has merit and it is funny (OK Zieman, good one ...... now get back in your corner LoL)

Here's hoping ( in light of the recent console decision) F.Dev and inform us how PC development of ED-O and ED-H will look like going forward (Note: I did write "here's hoping" !!)

S!

that is the other edge of the double edged sword of asking for leaps of faith from the playerbase and taking money up front - in some cases much more than the cost of the game.

if you massively big up your product and dangle exciting features for release after launch but only if you trust us with your money and come and join us on this journey together........... then it sets expectation and creates friction if you fail to deliver.

of course anyone complaining needs to do it within the rules of the forum and if not sure expect to be moderated or banned.

the alternative is make your game with your own money (or investors money that you pay some profits too) make a complete game and players can take it or leave it..... which is how it used to be and imo was better.

I think people have just given up on the idea that FDEV is actually able to make anything better at this point. They have also stopped believing anything they say since they constantly go back on it (ie better communication). I wouldn’t be surprised if some even just don’t care anymore.

Sure they keep playing the game because it still provides some amusement, and unfortunately not many serious contenders to scratch the space sim itch, but they are just watching a train wreck at this point, frankly without really caring anymore which way it goes.

Like a post from a random player could stop a 700+ employees company like Frontier. I'm just poking some fun to at least have a laugh. It's not my fault frontier doesn't know how (or lacks the proper organization/internal communication) to make a proper roadmap.

Or hasn’t the slightest interest on releasing that map outside the company.

if it were a minority, the dlc would be selling well enough to increase development... not reducing it and giving up on ports.
Ports were abandoned (my thoughts) because of the limitations of the consoles and not because of the decline in revenue.
Horizons took a very long time to come out on consoles.

limitations are defined around cost to deliver. it's not like the things involved are impossible, the only thing limiting restrictive hardware is the cost for better code and if you can make that cost back. you don't cancel things making a profit.

the profit from pc was lower than expected, this adjusted predictions on console sales and that made the costs associated with getting console odyssey no longer viable. it's not like the consoles changed, nor was Odyssey some quick turn update they were unaware of the costs to.

a more successful dlc would have changed that arithmetic and justified putting more or better talent on fixing the issues in the code that led to the dlc getting cancelled on other platforms. cuz, unlike the Apple port, there is nothing about odyssey that consoles couldn't do. there is no technical limitation to why odyssey is half as fast showing the same stuff as horizons. it's a result of profits before odyssey not justifying the cost of more or better resources and then after Odyssey, adjusting that budget down even more.

you don't do what we've seen if things are going well and we're just living a fiction here on the forum.
