Spring 2022 dlc

Welp, my prediction failed badly. Monday's a no show. Maybe tomorrow
Yeah, I had a feeling today will be the regular live stream schedule post. And it looks like tomorrow is a planet zoo stream, so I doubt there will be a teaser tomorrow. Not impossible of course to do both stream and teaser but somehow I doubt it.

@FoxyDee Sorry to hear of the Covid new for you, and i hope it will be light symptoms and you feel better soon!

Hoping we get some kind of update sneak peek this week for sure, but there's still four workdays left in the week, no reason to just give up on it yet. I'm sure it has to come sometime soon.

It would be really great if there was more communication on upcoming features between major updates, but we know that is not the way that Frontier works. They are more engaging about other things than in the past though which is great; it just happens to not be about future content (either DLC or updates). Which is why we get into this cycle every 2-3 months after a release.

I just got a message that my PCR test was covid positive and I am bound to a quarantine for 7 days. Not only will it hit me financialy (I bought a new flat and man, all the furniture is pretty costly), but it will also be quite boring. Well, at least I can play PZ all day long, but still…I could use some good news right now.
Hope you feel better soon :(

But...

What if we get other stuff piece by piece in other updates and packs leading up to the big aviary animal pack?

Like we got eggs like a hint in last update, in the next one we get idk, nests, then mesh roofs, and then the next thing and then the other. Would that work?

Like we have everything by the time aviary pack arrive
I hope this is what they do if/when we get an Aviary DLC.
There will be a ton of extra items, enrichment, foliage, branches, bedding, etc. So if they are planning a, say, Winter Aviary DLC, they could add a few things in the next 3 DLCs. If not, I think it would be likely we would only get 4-5 birds in an Aviary pack. If they can add some of these things, perhaps they could have enough resources to squeeze 2-4 more birds in the DLC.
I think this would be better for Frontier also. A 4-5-bird DLC would be met with a good bit of frustration by the community after waiting so long.

Here it is. Now we need to just wait.

I mean, you can technically use the mesh pieces for a roof - but they are fairly limiting. Adding mesh roofs would be an amazing, simple way to give us more flexibility. Netting is a must-have for aviaries too, IMHO.

I'm not sure that we'd need incubators since birds probably wouldn't lay eggs anyway (devs have previously stated this). But for me, we'd want a better variety of foliage as well as more in the way of logs/sticks that could potentially be used as perches. Smaller water effects features. Placeable pool/pond pieces would be really nice as well, utilizing concrete or plaster.

These are all "nice to haves," and obviously when you actually add the birds you'd need more (new enrichment items, nesting boxes for shelter, etc). But the game has plenty, as it is!

Not so sure we'll get animals laying eggs. The devs have previously said they weren't going to do this simply because of the resources it would require... For such a small/short part of an animal's life.

FWIW, though, the eggs that were included in the game seem to map on to animals that are already in-game when you look at them size-wise. I still think it was an odd thing to add--that feels kinda "hint-y" but they do seem to match onto animals already in-game.
Oh I did not see that they said it, but if I remember correctly there is a big situation I am wrong that they once also said they will not do small mammals and right now we have quite a few like meerkat, fennec fox, Prairie dog, beaver and more .. so can be That sometimes they change plans so who knows maybe they will decide to do it. it could be so cool if we get something like that But it is not such a high chance

They did say that, and I remain convinced meerkats were not on their original game plan, but all of these animals you mentioned are seen in small habitat type set ups in zoos, rather than what the game would consider exhibit sized. There's a lot of really small animals that I do doubt they'll get to, things like mice, rats, shrews, voles, and the like. When those are seen in zoos they typically are in terrariums rather than open air habitats.

But as to the main part of your comment, you're absolutely right. They may have a plan, and they have the right to change that plan at any time in the production of the game. It's not generally an issue with the gamers unless it's something they've already revealed (which is a lot of times why I think companies are so hush hush about future plans)

I think we'll get a peek on Thursday (24th) and then next Tuesday an announcement of update 1.9 and I more think it will be on Tuesday than Wednesday because there are mountains on Tuesdays live of Elt and they should bring us live some hints for dlc and if it will be both Tuesday and Wednesday it's unlikey Then probably the Thursday NEW DLC announcement and then the release on the 12th in April!AHHH EXCITING!!

True I remembered they once said something about meerkat that they can not put them in the game because of the size and right now we have this amazing animal! Yes also I doubt we will get the things you mentioned like rats and shrews and more .. but in short they can definitely change things and vice versa even sometimes for it to happen lol but that's why who really knows if we will ever get an update like new Climbing, egg laying, full aqautic animals, aviary and more .. all of them have a chance to get into the game so we certainly can't cancel things until the end. 💚

Absolutely. I feel like anything the game engine can allow, if the idea is popular enough (where the money is, ha!) they'll look into that as possible content. I do wish that all gaming companies would be more transparent about ideas that are not possible due to how the game engine is designed, but I think many of them shy away from doing so for fear of losing some player interest or something similar.

I mean, I doubt this is the case, but just for example if flying mechanics were absolutely not possible in the Cobra engine, just say so. That way it would be clear they could not put out a realistic avian pack; of course they could still create those animals in other ways, they just wouldn't fly. Same for fully marine animals.

Viewpoints and opinions of what is popular or a good or bad idea can change, actual physical or coding impossibilities, not so much.

you're absolutely right! This is so true what you said about gaming companies yes one can understand why maybe frontier still does not introduce new mechanic like aviary and it has nothing to do with the fact that maybe they do not know how to do it fact that JWE2 has both flying animals and fully aquatic animals so they definitely know how to do it. It might have been better for them to bring for example aviary at the beginning of the game because then they also have more time to work on it and also they will be able to adapt the new mechanic to the game but I definitely think they can add stuff like that.

Actually they never said that. There was an article right at the start of the game but it was almost impossible to make out what Frontier said and what the interviewer's own opinion was. The article was a mess like that, and people thought that Frontier said "no meerkats", but it was no direct quote at all, it was simply the conclusion the interviewer made.

Honestly, it's one of the worst articles written about Planet Zoo if you ask me :p

They never said it, but I still think it may likely be the truth, but that's just my own speculation. Either way, we got them in the game which is what matters.

At this point there's only one animal I'm solidly convinced is a 100% lock to get in, beyond that, there may be others than have a really good chance, but nothing's guaranteed.

Editing in, for an aside comment, I'm really hoping that a base game building set gets the flexicolor coding added to it this time around. All eventually (maybe not the wood) but c'mon Frontier. The Indian Sandstone, or Breeze block....Dry Stone.....surprise us Frontier!
