How to find Fleet Carrier that doesn't have restricted access

Quite simply, is there a way to use the galaxy map or any other 3rd party tools to find star systems that have fleet carriers that don't have restricted access (i.e. where you can land).

Alternatively, are there any other ways to identify fleet carriers etc?

Other than checking each one on the system map or nav panel I don't think so, no filters or anything.

There's probably 3rd party tools like inara that can help but carrier access is something that can be changed easily by the owner so out of game info may not be completely accurate. Check when it was last updated.

In Odyssey, if you open the system map, click on the FC, then, on the right on the "feature" button (the 3 legged star thing icon), and drop all the way down, you can read "docking access" and "notorious commander" status.

Quite frankly, it's very intuitive and easy to use, and I'm surprised you didn't find it by yourself. /s

He may have, we do NOT know. - Sounding like Sheldon there.....
We DO Know just as Riverside said though,
They are carriers, Mobile PRIVATE storage and Dock.

You can sit there in your ship with the eddb prg and scan all day and keep reporting, and the carrier can sit there flipping the toggle with a macro changing it every second.
Meaning you can dock, but no, not really.

NO 3rd party tool can help.
And nothing in the game really helps if the owner is playing with the carrier on purpose or actually using it and no one but he knows.

Inara gives an arrow to say maybe you can try these carriers, - BUT, they are Privately owned and can change or even MOVE in an instant.
Regardless of any map, or you about to land just as it gets switched to not allow and zooms off to colonia.

Nothing can predict or help you to predict what any carrier is about to do Except the cmdr that owns it.

So, Use Inara as a place to start
Then collect Carrier cmdr names
Then contact the cmdr's
Go from there.
Make friends.

Except what I gave works ? If the dude is using a macro, the "allowed" might flip all the time, dunno if it's updated once a while, every change or immediately. It's literally an ingame tool, not even related to 3rd party tools and API.

It's just unintuitive and clunky.

Also, someone using a macro to flip access is what I'd call an isolated case. I'm not sure it happen often or even at all.

You are Not wrong, but totally missing the point.

Which is that ONLY the carrier owner knows whats going on with his carrier.

The fact that his last click gets reported to 3rd party sites, or even instant in game.

Its like reporting Joes just turned his flashlight on - mostly useless info, only really tells you Joe has a flashlight and he can turn it on or off.

The Only reason I even commented was because you assumed he did not use an actual ingame USELESS tool.
ex: 'and I'm surprised you didn't find it by yourself. '

The guy asks a question that is actually impossible to answer because there is only 1 answer and as I say, only the owner knows. and he can change that thought a million times a day, and flip that switch each time he thinks about it.
Its actually a mental condition that many people have too, not sure did I, do it again, did I, do it again......
totally beside the point again though.

That it is reported via eddb is great as a 'possibility'
Both INARA and EDDB should be stating in very large letters 'PRIVATE SHIP' INFO can easily be WRONG
For Accuracy and to save TIME, we recommend you CONTACT the CMDR that owns this carrier.

I change my carrier info dozens of times a day. I do it for the very reason that I do NOT want the correct info in eddb or INARA.

I doubt if I am the only cmdr that does this.

And in the world face to face....most people can detect sarcasm and no identifier required

in text, sarcasm is also usually obvious.

Having to denote often means the author is unclear in the concept or the example barely hits the mark..

Again - the whole thing, really .

A guys asks something.
He gets sarcasm and insulted by vagueness.

needed no notation.

Not really, since text doesn't convey facial expression and voice, 2 tools often used for sarcasm. Which is why on the internet it is common to add "/s" to indicate it was sarcasm and prevent some people to take it to face value, as it seems to have happened there.
In the wording I used a few tool to make it clear I was actually expressing sarcasm. I made it very detailed, lengthy and used punctuation to cut the sentence to indicate an overly complicated method. Also described the icons, using a rather humoristic "3legged star" to indicate the icon is not helpful (since it's supposed to represent "feature", not anything 3legged star shaped).

OP asked for tools. They were provided. I made a sarcastic note with the intend to show how unintuitive they are. Don't blame us if people feel "insulted by vagueness" when said vagueness comes from the game.

Well, thank you. I was always friendly, polite and helpful, and so were most of the poster in this thread.

Have a good day sir, madam, or any equivalent you prefer to use.

Thanks for the responses all - much appreciated.

To be honest, the game in itself can be quite overwhelming in terms of information and a multitude of routes so when you then add 3rd Party routes, it can sometimes feel even more overwhelming but trial and error and testing things usually is a way to go :) I managed to figure out some stuff prior to the response but didn't get a chance to update the thread before the additional responses. Thanks folks :)

Personally I just do not bother with FC's, unless they are known to me, ie Friends, DSSA, or somehow affiliated with a group I know like a discord group. Too much of a waste of time to supercruise to an unknown FC, drop to reg space, and hope and pray the public access has not been changed since whenever the last update was that the 3rd party web sites are picking up.

You could ask pilots on Discord servers - Elite Dangerous: Community Server, Fleet Carrier Owners Club, The Bakery, EDBGS. These are some of the larger non-squadron servers.
