Explorers - What are your plans for Gamma?

I can't think of any other way I'd prefer to begin my adventure. If the option is there in Gamma then I'll be starting out from Lave with a Cobra and 100 credits.

I'm doing what FD do; keeping my cards close to my chest. But I will be hanging around Sol for a while until I have the acquired tools necessary.

But looking at the current limit of exploration (The Sausage), I can imagine that humans will be widespread and be able to get a lot further out than many believe; judging how fast information was presented on the outlying systems after the last major update.

I have chopped and changed my mind so many times where am going to begin (Imperial space with Eagle, or Founders world were favorites) but i really do like the idea like yours of just staring with the Cobra and 100 Crds, just feels right ;)

It's a tough one. If all the KickStarter start options are available I'll have a hard time even deciding where to start and what in!

I had originally planned to start as an Explorer (Have the option to start on the edge of explored space with a long range version of the Cobra Mk III and 3,000 CR (randomised system choice for multiplayer reasons)) and just head out wherever I felt the urge, but I'm thinking that tooling up may be sensible prior to heading out into the great beyond.

But chances are I'll change my mind multiple times. ;)

Explorer for me too. I am anxious to see what the "long range version of the Cobra Mk III" has to offer. Might need to add some things. Then its off into the unknown.

Making first contact with the Insectoid Alien Race and quickly stamping a unique impression of the human race upon their thoughts, by spraying insect repellent all over them.

Plans for Gamma - check out the release-state ship fittings, run some final training missions, start building up some credits, meet up with the team.

Plans for Release - Begin the 2+ year mission to the galactic core with the First Great Expedition.

It'll be a race to get out there...

Not sure I understand it all well :) On Gamma might be again a partial wipe as from Beta2 to Beta3 isn't it?!

Also, will the Gamma bring new stuff? Open the bubble? Hope I missed it, but didn't read anything about... so I don't know what will happen in 2 weeks...

But, to answer, I'll go mad till then, trying to shoot what I can, live dangerously, just to change my game style as I'm absolutely not a 'PK'.

:D

Its most likely going to be a full wipe for the gamma and not just a partial wipe. So most of us will be back in our little sidewinders with just 1000cr :( As for content well I was listening to Ambassador Kerrash's stream on twitch on Friday and he mentioned that the whole galaxy will be opened up with the exception of areas they are planning for future expansion. He also mentioned that there is a lot more content to go in which is great I think. I'm personally hoping that the rest of the initial 25 ships that have been mentioned for the final game will be in the gamma. They should be in because at the end of the day the gamma is effectively the finished complete game.

Off to Sol of course then im heading straight for the Galactic Nuclei xD

Well its up to you but I personally would avoid Sol like the plague. Firstly because its our home system and we already know exactly what's here. Secondly I think a large percentage of the backers are planning to go there so I think all these people in one system is probably going to cause issues.

Well; I'm going and I shall leave the issues for FD to sort out. I can't wait to dock above Earth. Sit above the rings of Saturn and glide around the Galilean moons. I want to explore the local systems and see how different the constellations are compared to observing them from the Sol system.
I'm in no rush.

Discover new galaxies? Isn't the Milky Way enough for you ;) Anyway I don't think we'll be able to leave our current galaxy and even if we could we'd all be dead by the time we go to the end of this one. The Milky way is a very big place :)

As for making contact with other life forms I think that would be great but wont be in the game until they've done the planetary landing and getting out of our ships expansions and even then encountering lifeforms will be a pretty rare occurance. I think at first the only alien lifeforms we'll encounter will be the Thargoids and they should keep us busy and be an interesting encounter for anyone who never played the previous version of the game and don't know what or who the Thargoids are.

So, Gamma date is the 22nd of November. A Saturday (how convenient).

The Mad Rush to chart the Galaxy will take off on that date.
What are your plans for that day and the months to follow?

Do you plan to upgrade to a nice ship first (running missions and ), then head off into the Great Unknown?
Do you plan to strip your Sidey from all that is unnecessary (Shields, Guns) and run off in a mad dash to find some first time chartings?
Do you plan to take easy wins and explore nearby stars, then head further out?
Do you have a set target that you want to reach?
Do you plan to have a list of systems that you explore thoroughly?

My plans are to just take off. The journey is the destination.
1000 Cr are enough for a fuel scoop. Then I will strip my Sidewinder down and go. Go as far out as possible and get as many 1st time explorer "badges" as possible while traveling to the fringes of inhabited spaces. From the money I hope to get myself a nice ship (like a Cobra) and outfit it enough to go for a long range trip. I have picked a target a - few thousand light years away - where I want to go and where I hope to find something interesting. Then I'll come back, sell the data, upgrade my ship and set off to my second target, which will be about 25.000 lightyears away (no, not Sagittarius A). And then it will be 3302.

I figured: If I want to be an explorer, I'll just have to go and explore. No use in running missions or trading to get a better ship to explore in.

What about you?
Will try not to become the first official kill !

I would strongly advise checking out the effects of the "wear and tear" mechanic first - no point in trying for a distant target if your ship falls apart half way there. :D

I'm going to fight/trade/run missions/mine until I have Cobra or Asp with the right loadout (including auto-repair for some of the internal systems), then do what my company says - survey the Orion Bridge down to where it joins the Carina-Saggitarius Arm.

Guess when our office decided to have the Christmas Party?

Anyway, on November 23rd (hangover permitting) I'll be running errands to earn some cash for a better frame shift/power plant, then heading off into the Inky Void somewhere. I haven't decided where, but there's no rush.

I plan to get in an eagle with a surface scanner as soon as possible. Get rid of the cargo slots and take off in the unknown, away from the starting systems and itchy trigger finger pilots.

Its a great long distance scout and its cheaper to upgrade than the cobra. I plan to upgrade it with best scouting parts along the journey so I can have a nimble ship for fights and being able to discover systems.
If I stumble on a nice rich asteroid, or a nice bounty hunting field, might take a break to earn credits. I will get in a cobra eventually and continue the journey with it.

Who knows after that, I will just go with the flow and see where I end up :)
