Update 11.1 Patch Notes

How would said goid turn off a weapon that has no power like an auto rifle
And i wanna get into a fist fight with thargoid. And i think heat based weapons would actually be the strong ones vs goids as they are unable to survive in temperatures above 40 C (104 F) as the ammonia in their cells would start to boil so on foot goids would only be able to exist on cold planets. Maybe add an AX flamethrower or something.

That weapon costs 100,000 credits. 3x the cost of a sidewinder which is a jump capable space ship half the size of the millennium falcon
You're trying to say that it's not loaded with electronics and biometrics and networked to your suit and phoning home to the manufacturer with data logging ? What are you paying 100k for then?

I dont believe there are any elite dangerous canonical sources that state that thargoids are ammonia based or come from ammonia worlds. That is just rumor (in-game) and statements from non-canonical sources (even if those sources are braben). The statement that fdev has made regarding thargoid biology comes from a 2017 interview with rolling stone magazine. Fdev has retconned stuff they've stated in-game, i dont think something stated out-of-game is reliable.

But lets say it's true, pure ammonia as a liquid might require cold or high pressure to be a liquid, ammonium hydroxide is around 40c at sea level to boil. Perhaps it's a solution of ammonium chloride and water - which would be much closer to regular water boiling point. Perhaps their body has an exoskeleton that keeps their bodies pressurized to allow exposure to higher temps, or perhaps they've engineered heat pumps thru various bio-technological means and designed their bodies to maintain cool temps. They've been out in space apparently for millions of years, i think they have conquered the hazards of temperature differentials in the environments available. Their space ships are biological and handle much more extreme heat than what humans can handle without mechanical protection. It would make little sense to assume they are not just as hardy as their ships.

Hmmmm... not sure if this is U11.1 related, but I'm unable to restock one of my alts heatsinks from a fleet carrier (restocking from an adjacent outpost worked ok). I just get "server error". I noticed the issue 8 hours ago before I went to bed... Still there this morning.

Hi all,

Engineers should unlock correctly for Commanders completing the requirements going forward. We are still investigating a solution for Commanders who experienced this issue previously.
Hello Paul and the team
I can confirm that after the UDATE 11.1 the UNLOCK of KIT FOWLER did work by selling again 10 OP to a BT. So the FIX was successful - but we need to have the mats to unlock - I was lucky I found a FC/BT which sold OP (thanks to INARA) and had 10 more to repeat the task.
Unfortunatly I had to RELOG to see him unlocked after I sold the 10 OP - this is very immersion breaking - any chance to get the UNLOCK visible without the need to LOG-OUT and LOG-IN of the game?

Has anyone experienced this since patch 11?

Settlement doors lock when inside the room and will not open regardless of clearance level

Not since patch 11.1, it happened way before. It doesn't matter on what side of the door you are. I've had cases where you were able to take a d-tour to get to the other side of the door, and it would not budge either.

It seems to happen when a lower level NPC is around and its auth level doesn't give him access to the door at hand... or something. I've seen it happen a lot in reactor rooms.
On 2nd thought (pondering over the PWR rooms)... it can also have something to do with an NPC opening the door, and you getting through it (it closes and locks after that), which happens quite a lot in PWR room cases.

The weapon itself is pretty inexpensive, but every one we buy comes with a Pilots Federation "No Real Consequenses" package that means you can indiscriminately murder as many people as you want and the worst you'll get is a fine and be forced to have a bit of a sit down (with tea and biscuits) and think about what you've done.

U gotta think of the credit system as inflated. 1 cr is not 1$ its more like 5 cents/cr making it more like a 3000 dollar weapon if converted to dollars (using the price of gold to convert) which is very realistic for a high precision military grade weapon.
Ill link sources showing that goids cannot handle high temps and are ammonia based.
From wiki:
. Their chemistry is carbon-based, but with ammonia as the solvent rather than water.[31] If the rumours are true that they come from Ammonia-based planets then their physiology is drastically different from humans. For example, ammonia boils at -33 degrees C. Thargoids may well be acclimatised to temperatures far lower than humans

Hi all. Feedback on 11.1:

- Visible tearing on the vertical "speed" lines during Supercruise has been fixed! Perhaps a minor issue but also maybe indicative of improved performance. Or maybe a new graphics card driver or reprofiling fixed it, don't know. Bottom line, performance seems better while in SC and space in general.

- Aliasing continues to be the worst I've seen in ED so far, and it's there in EDO and EDH. It started with Update 11, and remains in 11.1. Starting with Update 9 or so, I was able to turn off AA entirely to get maximum render clarity, while sacrificing aliasing at medium and long distances. Up close, like inside of a station, it looked spectacular. Now there's aliasing present at nearly all distances despite different settings. Rendering seems not as clear as before, as if there's some sort of hardcoded scaling that doesn't change with settings. EDO is much worse than EDH.

- More on the lolz side, Autodock computer bumps my ship on the way out 75% of the time. It then reverses and bumps it again a few more times before finding the mail slot to get out. Perhaps it can't see clearly with all those jaggies floating around lol.

Thanks!

Well I was joking, Odyssey weapons cost so much because that's what FD decided they should be for balance. Just like the fact you don't get a life sentence for a murder.

They don't give you biscuits either.

But the relative value of a credit doesn't come into it anyway. I delivered tonnes of stock for Pioneer supplies during the colonia bridge campaign, those guns have a massive markup.

How cool would it be if thargoids just pulsed you on the ground and your weapons were disabled as well as your suit thrusters, only minimal life support still on, and you were effectively helpless as the thargoid approached you and just stabbed you thru the chest with an arm spike or back handed you in the head and broke your helmet open so you die like arnold in total recall almost did.
Let's go for a touch of realism here.
You missed out the anal probe.

Why would a shutdown pulse make you fall anyway all it might do is turn off ur hud and "covas" oxygen would keep flowing as its pressurized going through a regulator, no electronics, your suit heater might shut off and u may take a bit of cold damage but after reboot it would be fine. U could keep fighting no problem with a "shutdown" suit.

It has also the convenient side effect that people who don't frequent the forums thus far and who live on other social media sources and games platforms will never get to see the feedback here or indeed venture further into the rabbit hole of negativity and criticism that is the forum.

Unless that's the idea behind it of course but I'd hate to be that cynical ;)
QED m8. :D

You're welcome to come up with an in-universe explanation for how tiny objects in one instance can contain the amount of material ostensibly available in much larger containers elsewhere without conjuring up an object that is able to be larger on the inside than it is on the outside and given the place the game is created, a more appropriate option than the tardis.

Not weird. Just awesome.

Re Aliasing, AMD FSR is activating by default from Update 11 onwards and at lower settings like Balanced and Performance it really exaggerates aliasing, even at Quality too but I find it bearable at Quality for the gift of 4K resolution! Might be worth double-checking its not switched itself on your machine.
