That's pre William invasion, when English changed massively. It's closer to the old saxons than English. English started to develop to what it is after William the B*** and his nobility took over the country in 1066. They spoke some French dialect, with many norse pronunciation and words, due to being the descendant of the Vikings who were granted Normandy by the king, a century before.
The weird situation of having the invading nobility using a different language they forced upon the common folk, with limited education to spread it, led to the weird mix we know. All the official stuff was in Norman French, while the English commoners spoke Saxon.
A quick look on wiki tell me this is "old english" and what I used is "middle english". Tis true my lord. But it doesn't go against my argumentation that languages evolves, sometimes super fast.
In the year of our Lord 3307, thee Emperor hast granted ye thee title of Lord Commodore. May God be with ye, as thou strike thee enemy !
Now I need this version of ED.
(I'm really bad at this, but I'm trying !)
