There are some nasty little reviewers out there who can't see past the nose on their face when it comes to a game. They won't admit it, but they really are "carebear" players, prefering games that give them auto aiming, story pointers and skills to make things easier for them. And these are the ones that complain about games not being sandboxed, or being too easy!

You can't win with such reviewers. They won't understand the concept of Elite that's been there from 1984 : Namely it's you, alone in a galaxy having to make your own way with a single ship and a few credits. I have a feeling they'll say it's boring with nothing to do, similar to the odd thread we've had on here from players that haven't quite got it yet (however, many do eventually

).

They'll also criticise the things that hardened Elite players like, such as the vastness of the playing area and the fact that places do take time to get to, things do take longer to achieve, because you have to be more hands on. In a world of ever-decreasing attention spans and dumbed-down play, it won't sit well with them. It would be a massive mistake by FD if they catered to such people, though. It would destroy what Elite has always been. What they need to do is find a way of encouraging players to widen their expectations of what a game is to encompass those features of Elite that may well be open to criticism.
