GALNET -23 MAR 3308 - TAURUS MINING VENTURES BEGINS SCIENTIFIC STUDY

This week's CG ended up being Reorte related, so the radioactive minerals thing could be for next week.
Well, I guess I could just go mining stuff for fun and profit but I'd rather not be way out there treading water (so-to-speak) for a week waiting for something to happen. I mean, they made such a big thing about the Heart of Taurus coming out there and all that and there's a ton of fleet carriers in the system already.

According to several commanders in the CE-R C21-6 system with me earlier today, planet C1 has a huge forest of brain trees. Yes, they said "huge" (followed by someone saying "wow" so I assume it's true). Nothing in the "missions" box of the Heart of Taurus menu. Just checking a few of the rocks in the ring of a local gas giant where the megaship is parked or the asteroid belt near the star produce anything but the normal stuff you'd get under normal conditions.

There's a bunch of us there. Are we exploring Guardian sites there or mining or both?
Before bed I checked the guardian structure and it was just the standard weapons schematic type of event. Nothing new of note on or around the buildings and nothing special with the obelisks.

Just an update in case anyone was curious: So far, just lots of mining going on out in the rings. I've been in solo while others are in open. You just go back to Heart of Taurus and sell what you've collected, gain more reputation as time goes on. I have to assume that with the story about "exploring some type of radiation" stuff causing a ton of fleet carriers to show up in a system with a Guardian site on planet C1, there may be a connection . . . IN THE FUTURE, but not now. Right now, it's just busting rocks.

FD: I sure hope you have something coming up in the next week or so. I'd sure hate being out here for 2-3 weeks and have nothing to find concerning this "strange form of radiation."

Yep nowt to see out here at the moment, hope this isn't a wild rock chase as i was on my way back out to Lyra's.
Will give it a week or so, maybe do a bit of guardian farming.
If your planning on bringing your FC out here don't take too long, its getting like the M25 on a bank holiday.

Taurus Prepares Mining Operation

TAURUS PREPARES MINING OPERATION

28 MAR 3308
Pilots’ Federation ALERT
Plans for a new mining initiative by Taurus Mining Ventures in the Synuefe EN-H d11-106 Synuefe CE-R C21-6 system have been announced.
The corporation’s megaship Heart of Taurus has been conducting scientific studies on ‘unusual radioactive signatures’ within the system. The next phase of this work is to identify mineable resources to learn more about the radiation’s effects.
Dr Ruben Carpenter, head of the Taurus Mining Ventures research division, provided an update:
“The source of the radiation found in Synuefe EN-H d11-106 Synuefe CE-R C21-6 has not yet been unidentified. But our team has theorised that naturally occurring ores in the system may have altered properties. If we are correct, that ore may have high commercial value once processed into usable metals and minerals.”
A public statement was delivered by Commodore Morag Halloran:
“It is paramount that we maintain positive relations with the community of independent pilots. Therefore, Taurus Mining Ventures will subcontract the forthcoming operation to members of the Pilots’ Federation. The company will be pleased to offer suitable rewards for mining these irradiated materials, details of which will be specified by Dr Carpenter in the next few days.”

This should get its own topic.

Also, they got the system wrong again. It's Synuefe CE-R c21-6.

I think that it was supposed to be the other system, but they put the Heart of Taurus in CE-R by mistake and decided to roll with it. I wonder if this is going to cause problems if they start the CG in the wrong system?

Frontier could take advantage of these CG stories and events to add new content to the game, such as taking advantage of this CG to add a new mining SRV and also foot mining, with new miners as well as existing ones, instead of shooting on the rock and explode.

Wouldn't that be something...

Adding a CG is easy, might not even take dev time. That kind of thing is usually set up by the CM themselves on most games. I've seen some MMO where it's the GM themselves who set that up^^

Adding vehicles and the like ? Well that's work.
