Guesses for the next biome packs for 2022

Next pack will be Asia, or Oceania, or Middle East, or something else.
Yeah, but Desert DLC just sounds so good for summer...and it is an area that could go with a scenery pack and is still horribly represented...I could get on board with a Middle East DLC, or even a Mediterranean. I had initially thought the Europe DLC might be a Mediterranean DLC. So yeah, there are PLENTY of regional areas still available, so unless they do 2-3 biome packs in a row we should assume they will go back to regional ones...at least to some extent.
But I also feel like it is somewhat of a missed opportunity? Why focus on a specific biome and not add more foliage? It would have been the perfect opportunity to adjust the format a little. Say 6+1 animals and +40 foliage pieces or something.
Yeah I would love for them to go to that format. Animals and foliage...a match made in heaven.

They generally like to do dry and hot themed packs in summer, like Africa and Aust. I really really want an animal pack for dessert, there are just too much to cover if its 4+1, its not enough.

I like the thought, but honestly we are happy to get any DLC, and patiently wait for our turn to get what we want. All we gotta to is push our thoughts and continue buying.
I agree largely, it's just that I'm quite sure Frontier already has this whole year planned out, so whatever we wish for until the start of FY23 won't change what comes next.

That said, it would have implications for the future.

Also, I am quite convinced a Desert Animal Pack is on the cards. It's the surest way to get a bunch of wishlist animals into the game (scimitar-horned oryx, Hamadryas baboon, emu, to name three off the bat).

I don't know about you...but I can say the same about pretty much every area lol.
The good thing about doing both biome and regional DLCs is that we even if a DLC for an area only gives us the 4+1, we can still fill it out in future packs.
My biome of choice is the highland/alpine region...which is the most poorly represented region in the game alongside deserts.

Hmmm I think I'm hoping for Mountain, Grassland and Tropical Forest? Marine would also be solid?

Mountain:
Spectacled Bear
Markhor
Japanese Giant Salamander
Rocky mountain goat
Lady Amhersts pheasant
Kakapo
Golden Snub-nosed Monkey

Tropical Forest
Red River Hog
Sloth Bear
Indri
Ocelot
Gibbon sp.
3 toed sloth.
Armadillo sp.

Grassland:
Leopard
Maned Wolf
Saiga
Black Rhino
Marabou Stork
Black-footed Ferret
(Either) Rhea
Honey Badger

Here's the issue: unless the pattern changes, then this summer it'll be a scenery pack. I don't want another desert scenery pack; we've received 2 (Africa and Australia). I want an animal pack. Therefore, I would go the following:

  1. Summer 2022 - Grassland Pack
    • Theme: natural, faux pieces that look like dried grass, rock, etc.
    • Animals:
      • Przewalski's wild horse (star)
      • Emu
      • Secretary bird
      • Black-footed ferret
      • Black mamba (E)
  2. Autumn 2022 - Forest Biome Animal Pack
    • Animals:
      • Tasmanian devil (star)
      • Common wombat (star 2)
      • Golden pheasant
      • Wild boar
      • Wolverine
      • Wild turkey
      • Raccoon
      • King cobra (E)
  3. Anniversary: Dromedary camel
  4. Winter 2022 - Alpine Pack
    • Theme: natural, faux pieces that look like snowy forests/mountain pieces
    • Animals:
      • Mountain goat
      • Marmot
      • Yak
      • Spectacled bear
      • Alpine salamander (E)

OK so i feel like we should alternate between biome packs and some kind of scenery pack.
so here's my (not really more like wishful thinking) predictions!
Wetlands animal pack
Island pack

Tasmanian devil
coconut crab
nene
fossa
lord howes island stick insect
grassland animal pack
prezwalskis wild horse
emu
giant eland
black footed ferret
blackbuck
secretary bird
maned wolf
black mamba
asia pack
amur leopard
takin
japanese giant salamander
golden pheasant
king cobra

Ok, so what I hope for this year.
Bold is what should go in a scenery pack.

Summer: Central America DLC
  • West Indian manatee
  • White nosed coati
  • Howler monkey
  • Spider monkey
  • Ninebanded armadillo
  • Collared peccary
  • Northern tamandua
  • colorful tree snake, like the Eyelash viper

Birthday gift: Dromedary

Fall: Deserts DLC
  • Addax
  • Patagonian mara
  • Striped hyena
  • Emu
  • Somali wild donkey / kiang / onager
  • Honeybadger
  • Sand cat
  • Cobra

Winter: Northeast Asia DLC
  • Amur leopard
  • Przewalski horse
  • Saiga antelope
  • Takin
  • Musk deer
  • Wolverine
  • Tanuki
  • Variegated toadhead agama

Preferably I desire all animal packs.

Considering that the past two summer DLCs have had a hot, arid theme to them (Australia Pack and Africa Pack), I don't think a savannah pack would be amiss.
  • Przewalski's Horse (headliner)
  • Maned Wolf
  • Secretary Bird
  • Greater Prairie Chicken
  • Hamadryas Baboon
  • Gerenuk
  • Common Wombat
  • Eastern Green Mamba (exhibit)
One of the biggest advantages of biome packs is that they can include animals from many different continents, exemplified by the Wetlands Animal Pack, which managed to fit in at least one animal from every continent except Antarctica, and I tried to do the same thing here.

I'm not entirely convinced we're done with regional packs. Most of Asia hasn't been covered yet...

But for biomes, my best guesses would be:

Islands:
Tasmanian Devil
Kiwi
Japanese Serrow
Falklands Steamer Duck
ex. Lorde Howe Stick Insect
Various scenery pieces and plants

Drylands (because wetlands - dryland has a nice symmetry)
  • Prezwalski's horse
  • Saiga (gotta have a snufflelope)
  • Emu
  • Yellowfooted rock wallaby
  • Hamadryas baboon
  • Stripped hyena
  • Scimitar horned addax
  • Chacoan peccary
ex. frilled lizard

Highlands (let's stick with the blank-lands theme)
  • A bear (either spectacled or American black bear)
  • Pallas cat
  • Himalayan monal
  • Takin
ex. ?
But switch the bear for a leopard and this would also be a sweet central Asian booster pack

Canopy
  • Fossa
  • Golden Tamarin
  • Mantled Guereza
  • Tree kangaroo
  • Racoon
  • Grey crowned crane (the only perching crane)
  • Lar gibbon
  • Indian giant squirrel
  • Sloth
  • Tamandua
  • Ocelot
  • Coati
  • Leopards go in trees sometimes
  • I don't think we'll get all of these in one pack, but I think there are a lot of animals that could go in a climbing based pack
ex. any Chameleon

Equatorial (I'm stretching here, because there are favorites that still need to be squeezed in + let's add some more birds)
  • Maned Wolf
  • Red River Hog
  • Secretary Bird
  • Victoria crowned pigeon
ex. emerald tree boa

Kakapo don't live in the mountains.

It's remarkable how often the kakapo comes up considering so few people seem to know anything about it. I'm not saying that to be mean, it's just genuinely surprising.

Some fun facts about the kakapo:
  • World's only flightless parrot.
  • World's heaviest parrot.
  • Lives in forests.
  • Critically endangered.
  • Illegal to keep in zoos.
  • No international presence.
  • There will never be an international presence.
  • There are so few kakapo that the Department of Conservation has given every one of them a name.

I know that some of the animals I mention are probably not in the game. But I would like to see them

Desert -- for June
  • Somali wild donkey (CR) or Indian wild donkey (NT)
  • Addax (CR)
  • Sand cat (LC)
  • Brown hyena (NT)
  • African spurred tortoise (EN)
  • Guanaco (LC)
  • Scimitar oryx (CR) or Dama gazelle (CR)
  • Thorny devil (LC) [exhibition]
Grasslands -- Autumn
  • Black-footed ferret (EN)
  • Przewalski's horse (EN)
  • Roosevelt elk (LC)
  • Grévy's zebra (EN)
  • Saiga antelope (CR)
  • Maned Wolf (NT)
  • Blackbuck (LC)
  • Giant girdled lizard (VU) [exhibition]
Highlands -- Winter
  • Ethiopian Wolf (EN)
  • Andean mountain cat (EN)
  • Amur Leopard (CR)
  • Markhor (NT)
  • Yellow-throated marten (LC)
  • Thorold's deer (VU) [It is found at elevations of 3,500 to 5,100 metres]
  • Banteng (EN) or Wild yak (VU)
  • Alpine newt (LC) [exhibition]

I'll be making my predictions under the guise that this will be the game's final year of support:

Summer - Scrublands (Desert + Grassland) Animal Pack:
  • Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat
  • Black Rhinoceros
  • Crested Porcupine
  • Nine-Banded Armadillo
  • Collared Peccary
  • Maned Wolf
  • Przewalski's Horse
  • Thorny Devil (Exhibit)
Fall - Forests (Temperate + Tropical) Animal Pack:
  • Matschie's Tree-Kangaroo
  • Siamang
  • Red Deer
  • Tasmanian Devil
  • Mantled Howler
  • White-nosed Coati
  • African Leopard (any subspecies would work really, I'm just biased for this one in particular)
  • Emerald Tree Boa (Exhibit)
Winter - Mountains (Taiga with Tundra overlap) Animal Pack:
  • Gelada
  • Domestic Yak
  • Mountain Goat
  • Himalayan Monal
  • Wolverine
  • Mountain Brushtail Possum
  • Spectacled Bear
  • Olm (Exhibit)

I guess you're subbing the Hamadryas baboon for the gelada. Personally I'd rather have the Hamadryas over the black rhino, and then one of the 3 takin species in over the gelada or yak. And probably the yellow-throated pine marten over the possum. But otherwise I can't argue with much you have here. Although I think the leopard spot would be the Amur leopard, which as you've said still works there

TBH i don't care if it is illegal to keep in zoos. Is a fantasy game, and sure is called Planet ZOO, but you can make more than zoos in the game, like nature reserves and national parks or just natural environments. Everyone plays the way they want, and if people would like a kakapo then is fine they ask for it. And most people just ask for animals just because they find them funny, pretty or cute, no matter they know a bunch about them or not. I think is a valid request regardless.

On the other hand, i don't think it would be ever included in a DLC lol

I've mentioned this before but I'm rather biased for the Big 5 of Africa; it would be difficult for me to give up the black rhino (the more prized of Africa's 2 species due to its aggression) like that. Personally the most expendable animal in the Scrublands Pack is the maned wolf (much to the chagrin of others), so I could sub the baboon into there.

I think the yak has a bit more of a niche with it being a non-camelid domestic species (which also could've went to the water buffalo but alas). I'd also like to keep the number of carnivorans to a minimum, and plus Oceania gets more representation with the mountain possum.

I think the next biome dlc will be something with Desert because we also got africa last year and Australia the year before and I might be happy to see the dlc because then maybe we will get porcupine! But my Speculation is this:
Desert/Grassland dlc + scenery:
  1. african crested porcupine (my star lol)
  2. Striped hyena
  3. Maned Wolf
  4. Przewalski's horse
  5. Exhibit: Sidewinder
But still we have to remember that there is a situation that it will be something different like wetlands animal dlc no one knew that this is what we will get and this is what we get hah me what matters is that next dlc will be sloth or of course porcupine! 🐾
