Your most wanted animal (2022 edition)

Sirs and Gentlemans, how cruel of you to make me choose between my beloved trash pandas and the best duck ever, fight me on that.
I just plop in both, cause thats a trashy thing to do fitting for the founder of the trash panda rebellion.
Some of you might see them as pests, but they are my treasure.
Not only are they near omnipresent in german and overall european zoos, they would also be a first of their taxonomic order, propaply a new rig that will be very useful for modders, a small arboreal animal from a cold enviroment, something we literally do not have in the game right now and they are just some cute homies.
I would offer them my garbage with candle light in a beautifull night, and so should you

Now for the other, less romantic choice we have an animal that has high high marks in uniqueness, looks, bringing something completly new to the game and in my orpinion the most important, flexibility.
Im talking about the white faced whistling duck, a tropical duck that lives in south america, africa and madagascar, is extremly common in zoos and a duck, which is something pretty amazing i would say.
You could put them in a tropical house, a random pond, join your hippos, madagascar area, you name it. Whatever you could want from an animal, they can do it.
Might not be exciting for some, but the sweet sweet prince for others, and thats what counts

I think (personally) the maned wolf is both common enough in zoos and unique enough to qualify for a slot. They’re a new representative for grassland canids, our first canid in South America, and the only omnivorous one so far, with a diet composed of as much as 50% vegetable matter. Heck, I’ve even heard of them peacefully coexisting with other species in mixed habitats, and that’s certainly unique for a canid.

Tell that to the anti-canine crowd
As if I care :ROFLMAO: The absolutely only species where I understand sentences beginning with "not another..." is simply any crocodilian. But I admit, it's okay if we are done with felines after the Amur Leopard, even if I would love an asiatic lion. But that's only based on me wanting a not-cartoonic lion and I can't see them redo the west african. (Yes yes, mods exists, I know).

I would go for an Alpine marmot, we definitely more mountain animal and small animals. Plus it would fit the burrows behaviors. They are slightly bigger than Prairie dogs, they have nice fur variations. And most of all they are adorable, they are iconic mammals of our Alps. They could totally represent Europe in a mountain pack and be the "clone" of the pack.
But I would be happy with other species (Vancouver, Yellow belly, Siberia or Long tail)

An update for me too since the Capybara is making it in. Definitely, without question a Wombat is what I want most now.

Agree 100%. My local zoo has 5 males and I enjoy watching them. They are also found on the Pyrenees (I think they were introduced there).

I think the tanuki would be easier to swallow than the maned wolf for a lot of people. The maned wolf is still kind of wolf-like (though it has some unique behaviours), but the tanuki really looks different (that's yet another reason I advocate for the bush dog over the maned wolf for a South American canine - the bush dog is totally unlike any other dog in the world).

So many people so many opinions 😂
First of all I love Racoon dog and Tanuki. But being frankly honest both of them are just another fox for me and we already have 2 in the game. I would love to have them all but definitely the most distinct species of this whole group is definitely the Maned wolf 🤷🏽

What, Maned Wolf look Wolf like? Oo I must have seen different Maned Wolfs then. To me they move, sound and behave very different from any other canine we have so far.
They have the same general 'wolf shape' that we got in the timber wolf, Arctic wolf, dingo, and dhole, which is what I'm talking about (the African wild dog, too). They even similar colours to the dingo and dhole. They obviously have differences, but in terms of being strikingly different, they're not as unique as the tanuki or bush dog.

I mean, it's a moot point anyway; the maned wolf will be in the game one day so the rest of us will just have to suck it up and learn to love it. 😅 I can't say I hate the Arctic wolf as much as I used to (I'm still sour about the dingo though).

I begin to dislike the Dingo as well, tbh, just because there could have been better slots and we got the Dhole now. I used to find the dhole absolutely useless, but they kinda grow on me. But I hoooonestly donÄt think they have the best model, so I hope they do better on the Maned Wolf. As of now, I'm not sure it is a given that we get them. And if I had to decide between Maned Wolf and Tanuki, yes, it would be the Tanuki now.

EDIT: Isn't Tanuki and Racoon Dog the same? I am confused, people...

Do you want an extended, detailed case about why the dhole is pretty great? If yes, im allways here, ready to defend my favourite animal in the game (that i honestly dont really care for rl)

Dhole fans unite! :p I'm curious though -- why do you prefer it in game as opposed to in real life? Personally, I find the winter coats of the real thing cuter, and while I love them in-game I think they're not always the most accurate model.
