Wetland discussion and predictions

The walkthrough criteria is more, "should guests be afraid of this animal?" than, "can guests hurt this animal?". In game, if guests walk into a habitat with a non-walkthrough animal, they run out terrified. I don't know about you but platypuses aren't exactly what I'd call an intimidating animal, even with their venom.

I'm well aware, but I wanted to bring another aspect into the discussion. Before all the DLCs we really haven't had any tiny animals, so no one had to think about that

The game already gives species 3 reaction types to guests (shy, neutral, confident). The walkthrough compatibility's only function is to tell guests if they should run away from an animal. Shy walkthrough animals are still discouraged from being in walkthrough habitats due to high stress. But it makes no sense to cower in fear from a platypus.

Not that I’m necessarily disagreeing, but guests in Planet Zoo have an odd set of fears — for example, they find fennec foxes rather cute but run in terror from arctic foxes. Perhaps they fear their dominance over the arctic tundra….

The devs could just have all small walkthrough animals be shy (unless there's reasons for otherwise). It gives the same effect.

Sure. But then for animals like Meerkats, shy trait would be unrealistic, yet they fit the size I'm talking about

Then breach the realism a bit to make it check out. The walkthrough trait is not at all meant to protect animals, it's entirely about protecting guests. It's the guest tolerance that protects the animals, which is what should be considered here.

So it turns out platypus are walkthrough
Even though I learned from all of you, it seems PZ didn’t 100% do their homework
Regardless mine will not be walkthrough as my animals get too stressed out
