Invite to All Cmdrs - Fleet Carrier Expedition Trip to the Xibalba Region

Dear All,

I would like to invite you to join me on my Fleet Carrier 'Admiral Roraima' for an expedition to the remote galactic region called Xibalba. This is a difficult to access region as it is not possible to jump there on a direct course from the Bubble (I know because I tried). Normally you would need to go via the Formadine Rift and from memory it was something like a 30-40000 Ly route just to get there! We will be taking the direct route thanks to the Fleet Carrier Jump range.

I am currently preparing the Fleet Carrier for departure in and from the TSONGORIS system. Initially we will route directly to the system Dryeae Aec UE-R e4-1.

Departure is scheduled for on or shortly after WEDNESDAY 20TH APRIL. So if you wish to join the expedition, please ensure you are docked aboard the carrier (along with any ships and modules you may need) by 23:59 UTC on TUESDAY 19TH APRIL.Participation in the expedition is FREE but donations to the Tritium depot enroute would be much appreciated.

I will post notifications of future jump dates and times on this thread - I can't accept any liability for Cmdrs who are not aboard the carrier after it jumps!

It will help if you add me (Cmdr Roraima) as a friend in game. I play on a PC but other platform users are of course welcome. It is recommended (if you're an Odyssey player) to bring along an artemis suit.

The Fleet Carrier is equiped with Universal Cartographics, Vista Genomics, Pioneer Supplies and a Bar Service. Outfitting has been disabled to make way for Tritium storage.

I would especially welcome new players, who would like to experience a long range expedition but perhaps lack the exploration ships or experience to undertake this journey without support.

I look forward to welcoming you aboard for what promises to be a great journey to a remote location!

Regards,

Cmdr Roraima

Hmm! sounds interesting.

Can I ask, what frequency of jumps will your Carrier be? roughly how many per day?
May well tag along in my own Carrier.....though it will depend on how quickly you're gonna be moving along.

Initially the jumps will be as fast as I can manage to get to our initial destination system in Xibalba. After that it will depend what people want to do, and whether we can find some unexplored and interesting areas :) Play it by ear really.

I'm in.........not been in that Region of the Galaxy before.

Please keep me posted.......my in-game name is THE DOC & I'll be taking my Carrier 'ARRABELLA'

Really cool, thanks for the invite !

I have to look if I can jump in this region with my budget explorer ship, but it would be awesome.
Its currently a Hauler with 27~ ly jumprange.

But this would be a nice adventure, I searched for something like this :D
Don't forget with enough mats you can increase your jump range with 'jumponium' synthesis........I went to Beagle Point on the first DW Expedition using my 28LY Asp and unless I'm mistaken, back then there was no way to increase your jump range unless you 'burnt' your own Ships fuel:eek:

I play "classic" without mats and I dont like engineer stuff too..this farming aspect is something that I cant do,
its not fun.

But wow thats a good trip with 28LY :D I played before this mats and engineer stuff too and so what..I dont need it.

Definitely worth checking out but I would think you should be OK.

Hi All,

Here is a little update. I've just created a Discord server that hopefully we can use to communicate during the expedition. I must confess I'm not very familiar with Discord so I hope I have done this correctly, but here is a link:

Should be 'Roraima's Xibalba Expedition'.

Regarding the expedition itself, I've now calculated the route using the excellent spansh fleet carrier route plotter. Our initial destination in Xibalba (see OP above) is around 26,000 Ly from our start location (roughly the same distance as Sag A*!) and we can route direct. Just to get there and back is going to use around 14,000 t of Tritium, which means there should be some in reserve to do some FC jumps further into Xibalba (i.e. along the spiral arm) if required.

Fuelling of the Fleet Carrier has now been completed. The breakdown of the initial fuel on board looks like this:

Tritium in Fleet Carrier Inventory = 18,530 t
Tritium in Fleet Carrier Depot = 1000 t
Tritium in my the cargo hold of my Cutter 'Juggernaut' (at departure) = 762 t

Total Tritium = 20,292 tonnes

Thanks :) Will you be joining us on our little jaunt?

I´m afraid I am already on the jaunt of my own, currently surfing the Empyrean Straits, for the first time in what feels like 4 or 5 years. Out of tritium and not coming back until a significant content update.

I like the idea of CMDRs gatheing on a single ship/carrier and would definitely support it, especially given how I don´t think it would be popular when nearly everyone (or so it feels like) owns and would rather use their own carrier. Yet another reason why I preferred the original concept where carriers would have been a squadron asset.

I did a previous journey (not very far) just after I bought the carrier. I think there were only 3 or 4 other commanders on board but it was really good fun. Of course, I expect it to be even better now that we have FC interiors and we can gather in the bar or hang out in the bridge ready room. I really hope there are some takers for this journey.

I don't think I'll be able to ride along, but thanks for the announcement :)
