Just wanted to point out river hog isnt as common as people think out here.
Captivity number doesnt matter for me.
I would personally chose peccary, because its more unique from geological and genetic standpoint + animal that fit for north america, central america and south america. Can represent many environments like savanna desert and rainforest.

Both would be ideal. Red River Hog because of its apperance and the peccary is in fact not a "real pig". It belongs to its own family which stands close to the pigs. Peccaries are very unique as they can form very big groups up to more than 100 animals (Wikipedia says up to 300).

I would also like to get both the red river hog and the peccary (and the wild boar), but if I must choose only one, I would go for the peccary just because the red river hog would be the third tropical pig, while peccaries seem to be more cold tolerant.

I still think that the giant forest hog is a neat compromise for a third suid, as it is a wild boar sized relative of the red river hog which lives in African rainforests. Also, looks contrasting enough next to the warthog (you can see one walkby along his big cousins around the minute mark):

I certainly don't know of anywhere that keeps them now - last place I know of was the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, which had them until 2013:

Also, just to note, the animal at San Diego was not a giant forest hog - it's either a bushpig or a melanistic red river hog.

I would like to replace them with the domestic Yak, Chinsese (or revees, havent checked which name it has in the list) muntjak, cotton-top-tamarin, african dwarf goat (or whatever domestic goat ranks highest) and the manatee.

I disagree. People want the Red River Hog mostly because of its colorization and appearance. So I think for those people, me included, no other pig will be a compromise. In case of pigs it is heavily in Front in the wishlist. And to be honest, I believe that we will get the Red River Hog as a third pig in a future pack. And personally I would also be happy to get the peccary (no pig at all) and the wild boar (allows "German Tierparks") if support should continue in 2023. I know there are some other types of pigs like the giant forest hog. But in case of popularity and knowledge these are far behind the other 5 (2 in game and the 3 I mentioned) pig species.

Havent seen the pig discussion till now, but i also would agree on the 5 hogs mentioned above. Maybe also add a domestic one like the kuneku pig or the pot bellied one and we would have perfect suid representation

Yes please, I know it's impossible to fit in many missing wildlife, but I wouldn't object to domestic pack

To me is not a priority, but if a new suid (or tayasuid) is included, I would choose the red River one before Wild board or pecari. The coloration and the ears are nice. I think I have seen a couple in Madrid Zoo.

Really pleased at the results of the new list update, with the wetlands animals removed. 7 of my own top 10 are in the meta top 10, with 2 more right outside of it....there's not a lot of love for jackals though.
