Issue Tracker: Planetary Tiling

I've noticed it a few times, usually when using the DSS 'heatmap', doesn't bother me in the least, others are mortally offended, of course! ;)
I've noticed it once, and this was during an exploration journey spanning many tens of thousands of lightyears... this planet had really bad tiling in the DSS, but it actually looked fine in person. I didn't spend my time inspecting each and every planet though so I probably missed some.

Cant say that i noticed much tilling lately, except the obvious culprits posted soon after the EDO launch.

However, seeing one blatant tilling planet is like the stuck pixel on your screen - once seen you cannot unseen it and it will ruin everything displayed on that screen.
Hopefully i never stumble on some obvious tilling, but this makes me wonder...

losing Dr Kay Ross... was a such irreplaceable loss?

Greetings Commanders,

We’d like to take this opportunity to address the Tiling Planetary Features issue from the Issue Tracker.

After spending some time to observe the effects of the issue while weighing-up the costs to resolve it, we have decided to focus those resources elsewhere. Reducing or preventing the tiling effect would require a deep-overhaul of fundamental systems, which in turn would disrupt other aspects of the game. This would inevitably take time away from developing and improving other elements such as performance, bug fixes, and new content. We cannot justify this level of change and a re-generation of the galaxy in Elite. This is unlikely to change in the future so the issue will be closed, freeing up votes on the tracker for other issues.

We’ll continue to strive for the best possible experience for the highest number of players which our current focus allows us to do. We hope you’ll appreciate the reasoning behind this decision.

Thanks for the comms Bruce! I personally was never too bothered about it. And I say that as I'm currently near the SagA*, having departed shortly after Odyssey launch. I agree with some other posters that this issue was exaggerated and to move resources to fix/improve other aspects of the game instead of this one is a great decision.

Also, I appreciate that you're sharing this news on the forums and are honest about it. I'm sure many of us do too.

Good afternoon @Bruce G no issue with this announcement, but with all the announcements saying not doing this or not doing that could we perhaps have a little taste of something new and shiny that we are going to get. Just a hint please

+1, it would be great to get a glimpse of what's coming next, both short and long term.

(Did I finally make a forum account for this? Mayhaps, mayhaps)

You mentioned "this level of change and a re-generation of the galaxy" ... I would love to learn more about the details on this (as in, tecnhical deep-dive on it).

Resources to do it aside, it would be beyond cool to have an updated galaxy with IRL advances and discoveries made since the game's creation. If that could be slipped in with whatever other stuff that also requires regenerating everything... I say, dewit if it ever becomes possible?

I acknowledge what's been said, I know it is not going to happen anytime soon, but my hope is my posting this adds to the balance if there's ever the chance.

Any word on anti-aliasing? 😜
Three words:

Deal With It

Probably going to be an unpopular choice amongst the vocal minority but I think the right call and thank you for stating it clearly.

Panther clipper and Thargoid ground combat confirmed! :p

With finite resources that's all you can really do 👍

Does that mean when I'm the only player left you'll develop exactly what I say? 🤔

Would love cqc updated with npc pilots so it can be played without huge waiting times. Id expect a lot of people might actually start using it if the could get passed the menus more regularly.
