Issue Tracker: Planetary Tiling

Ive had a weird issue lately of 'late planet pop in', the planet does not show as I approach it, even up to 0.06 ls for some planets. I have to get fairly close for it the pop in. Happens with the majority of planets. Hasn't bothered me, just thought it odd and I haven't see many others mention it.

We’ll continue to strive for the best possible experience for the highest number of players which our current focus allows us to do.
Hopefully this includes leaving Horizons as-is on PC rather than replacing it with Odyssey Lite. This will give the best experience to the highest number of players (some of us prefer Horizons over Odyssey) while also enticing those who really want Odyssey features to pay you for those features. 🤞

Hopefully the merge will happen, and soon, purely to enable those of us who enjoy playing EDO to be able to play alongside friends who do not own the expansion, rather than downgrading to Horizons to play together.

Sorry, I'm writing through a translator.

Where is the dislike here? Over and over again, as with the failed optimization for previous generation consoles.

You could have said that you are solving problems so that maybe someday things will be done the way they should be. And you're just permanently shutting down the problem in one of the most important aspects.

Yes, tiling is very important! Just as important as optimization, mission range, and modern effects for realizing realistic space. And, if you want to say that the terrain is all right now, you are deeply mistaken! And, you know, playing in anticipation of changes is one thing, but playing with the knowledge that the developers won't work on one of the most important aspects is quite another!

And you still haven't given us back the volumetric lighting that was in the alpha test! So now what? Are you going to tell us to say goodbye to Odyssey to move on to the tightness of the only system in Star Citizen? It's not perfect there either, but the terrain is much better.

Me neither. Tiling was never a problem for me. I don't know if some people located some planet with tiling problems or it's just a problem with specific graphic cards or configuration.

There were some wild threads about the issue destroying exploration forever......I suspect that was a slight exaggeration in some ways......anyway got to get back to exploring, fly safe everyone!

Potato - pot-a-toe 🤷‍♂️

A reported issue. There was a white dot placeholder that could be seen from any distance for planets which was replaced by the actual planet image once you got close enough, the white dot now vanishes for to early and it appears the planet has vanished, but it's only the white dot.

Thanks for the update. The tiling issue has been overblown anyway, and really isn’t a problem on most planets. I’ve been very happy with the overall look of things while exploring.
Really? It's not that good, but it's not bad, but the rest is... The relief needs to be worked on and worked on! At the same frank primitive full full and with this definitely need to do something, that is not immediately, not one armful, but gradually add assets. Or else the shame...

But the developers, it seems, rely on gameplay, not graphics.

@Bruce G Thanks Bruce, really appreciate the update on this one. I know its now always easy to give 'bad' news like this. But I think most of the community are happy to get an answer even if its maybe not what we want to hear. More of this communication please.
