Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Read through some of those PvE server threads.

Basically same arguments we've had here for years regarding open only.

So many people either ignoring or dismissing decades of industry experience regarding what happens when you mix PvEers with PvPers. Ultima Online being the most classic example.

Some are saying "ah, but CIG are doing something different", basically playing the never been done before card.
It's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it.

Wait until this guy hears about Vulkan...

Actually, here is the dialogue version, its quite funny. FNM always did like the UK. I never got to see them but my sister's husband did at the Leadmill in Sheffield. I was gutted i missed them.

Not "real" FNM though, the good stuff, and very appropriate to the current situation in the world...

Yeah, its a Black Sabbath cover, but its a classic.

And my all time favourite, because its a damn dark song when you listen to the lyrics.

Also, bit of trivia, in the early days of FNM, before they really became FMN, they had Courtney Love singing with them. She was dating the keyboardist Roddy Bottum, before he came out as gay. Disclaimer: They were pretty pants back then.

It was only after they got Chuck Mosley on board they started to become a real group and started to have hits.

But like so often happens with groups when they find fame, the lead singer turns out to have problems (eg: Pink Floyd) so he was replaced by Mike Patton, where FNM saw their best years.

Still a better love story than Star Citizen.

More desync good news / bad news…

Due to recent improvements on desync we have uncovered hitreg bugs which we likely cannot resolve for 3.17. In the direction of the velocity vector the collision shape of a ship will be slightly in front of visual model (the exact offset is velocity dependent). There is currently no work-around so avoid hovering inside the velocity vector of another ship and lead your shots a bit more during combat.

Valheim's survival mechanic, aka eating food, is optional: it buffs your health and stamina (quite dramatically), but it isn't required - you don't die if you don't eat food in the game.

Other games, like SC, could emulate that same optional mechanic by making food and drink provide buffs instead of preventing death.
damn… that would be the ultimate insult!!!

People do accept that.
I'm not sure there cause this thread show otherwise on a weekly basis. Seems like multiple users here have an hard time to acknowledge SC merits, even going to ridicule lengths of the "money will dry" variants, "this year will make or break sc", "no flight model", "no planets to land" (now "no systems"), "no company will touch them with a ten foot pole", "there's no gameplay loops", "content creators are being paid to pretend to have fun" and so on and so on. There's always some excuse to doom-speak even it doesn't last very long it will be forgotten and replaced with another rhetoric until it's absurdity becomes too apparent to deny. In which they will jump onto another sound-byte to chew.

The thing is, it's easy, people have been playing and having fun for years now. Solo, small groups, big groups. For years now. Despite of those who prefer to bury the head on the sand that is.

It's not as much as they get tiresome but they're beyond ridicule, specially now after the latest updates made things all so clear. What is beta/alpha if not bugs and lack of iteration and performance? What's the issue with having patches every 3 months that introduce new features along with new bugs? Nothing new really. I'm sure we're all still baffled how no other company has been able to steal SC thunder. Despite all for others to come up with their product it's still pretty much an open space for sc to grow freely, no surprise there since there's no actual companies investing seriously in the sci-fi department that involve ships and a online sand-box.

Our little indie space aficionados did raised hopes by pairing up tech giants but things didn't picked up as much as we hoped for. So, not surprisingly and considering all things sc keeps improving their game they keep gaining new players.

Oh they do discuss content about the game, it's just that here they're ignored here because they're drowned by the folks who don't play sc trying to deal with the fact that it hasn't crashed like they said it would, mixed with not being able to find enjoyment in the other game so the only alternative is to try and find company to their misery.

Which is it seems to be getting harder as games develop and feature implementation collide. Well, that's copium alright.

As for those who still able to play and enjoy games, the refugee camp got lot of fresh stuff:

Kate's Tank Battle continue:

Black's launched the new official Track video:

Citizen Drew adventure continued :

In another note, YT keeps pushing SC videos of "famous ytubers" playing sc:
This lawful citizen already "lured" 90+ unsuspecting players to buy SC would you look at that, almost enough to buy an Idris or 2.

Jackfrag, lvlcap and so on and so on. Though month for the fud crowd indeed.
Wouldn't be a surprise if they break their funding record. again.

Gotta appreciate the juggling though.

So basically mundane things like a mug, a dead body or a corpse have "ways to persist more permanently" that the second most important (avatar being the 1st) asset in the game. Guess that's to be expected when brainstorms focus more on futile microdetails than anything fundamental.
