If anyone wants to get their foot in the door so to speak, I have 2152 units of Power Generators for sale at 704cr a unit on the carrier 'The Clytemnestra'. Its parked in HR 1507, a mere 5.5ly jump from the CG system. I offloaded 10000 units myself and have reached the point of 'enough is enough' :p Hopefully this helps those thinking about making a small contribution to get the paintjobs...or feel free to take the lot if anyone wants them. Anyway off for Good Friday beers, Happy Easter folks. x

All gone! cheers folks x

So the OP says we have the chance to earn 2 unique paint jobs.

then they show 4 ships, each with different paint

So assuming being in at least 50%:
  • do we get to pick which 2?
  • do we really get 8?
  • are 2 randomly given?
  • other?

That's a good question. Probably it should say 2 sets of paintjobs, which would align with the two lists of four.

Thanks! Respectfully, how do you know? Was this clarified somewhere?
Honestly, not certain why I feel that I "know". I have a vague suspicion that I heard something on the stream that confirmed it, but can't swear to that. You may want to conclude that it's still an open question until a mod says otherwise ;) (But it's by far the least complicated interpretation of the words in the OP.)

Any guesses as to how many tons of cargo it will take to land in the top 50%? At the rate I'm seeing probably not very much.

Wondering myself. Got 13121 atm thinking that should do it. But with easter and some extra time for players. My low estimate is 10000. But will not bet the house on that.

Just a heads up in case you or the other mods have a direct line to anyone at Frontier. Tissue sampling with the Research limpet or Xeno multi controller is still borked. Limpets return empty. All of the issue tracker tickets opened for this have expired or been marked as duplicates and closed. If they are planning on doing a Tissue sampling CG for next week then Frontier really needs to fix this first or delay the CG.
Thanks zannry, I'll pass this on, though I doubt anyone will see it before Tuesday due to the Easter holidays.

Most likely the CG will either be delayed or released with the tissue sampling bug as is.

I don't see FDev finding the cause of the bug and fixing it in 48 hours or less and then successfully deploying the fix without breaking something else.

Dolphin is probably the best candidate.

This version beats the posted FAS and Keelback in almost every category. Flies at 16% heat and is generally ignored by Thargoids. Has an optional slot to do whatever you want with but you might need another level of Low-Emissions on the Power Plant if your heat rating jumps.

The DBX also makes a great cold ship. Dolphin still beats it in every category except jump range and number of available heat sinks.

Why use a shield if Thargoids won’t attack a ship with temp <20%? Or is it a “give you a few seconds to escape if something happens” kind of thing?

Is the bug a case of "all limpets return empty" or "some limpets return empty"?
If it's the former, then the CG must be delayed, no?
It's definitely not the latter former. I was testing it at the Megaships in Decait last night with my AX Cutter. Out of 12 limpets fired at a Basilisk 8 samples came back. I only tried two scouts, both returned a sample. The Cyclops was less successful with only 5 out of 15 coming back.
I didn't see any Medusa, but the only thing I got from the first Hydra that spawned was a good kicking. I did get a sample back from the next one but lost a lot of limpets in the process. That may have been more to do with the fact I was trying to keep my distance and LoS it with the megaship.
I've not had enough encounters to figure out all the variables. I didn't have a corrosion resistant rack for the Cyclops which may or may not have been a factor. I'm in Asterope now so I'll be able to test more reliably tonight.

Being under 20% heat means they don't lead their shots, making them easier to dodge, but they still take them. I believe they still need to be aggroed to stop them leaving before the sample is taken anyway.

Don't you mean it's definitely not the former? You're saying "limpets sometimes collect samples", not "limpets never collect samples". Was that in Horizons or Odyssey?

I like the idea of giving the paintjobs to all participants.
I don't need any of those, but I think I will still buy a stock sidewinder to deliver a single ton to tick that box!
On two accounts!
It's an interesting deviation from the norm! I wonder if it's a one time change (like giving all participants a little holiday present) or might be a trial for a new system. If the latter, it could shake up the CG participation dynamics a bit. The way the current system shakes out, the 75% threshold to get a reward is often about one T9 full - trivial for an established player but maybe frustrating for new folks still rocking a Cobra. Giving everyone a participation prize eliminates that complaint, but at the same time in any moderately popular CG 50% is not trivial to reach and needs some ongoing attention to be sure of staying in. Especially if it turns into an actual contest to stay above the line.
