Lesson learnt from today's first run, be careful when on Landing Pad 04 (right at far end of station), because if you overdo the vertical thrusters on take-off, you smack your head on the structures above you and end up here:

Quick tip for people ... before you start your run - take off, leave the station, turn around, request docking permission and then keep checking (and if necessary going back out, cancelling and re-requesting docking permission) until you get a pad you really like, that's not too far back. There's no point handicapping yourself with a bad pad before you've even started.

Unfortunately wasn't an option in this instance, halfway through the run at Soholia.

Ahh. fair enough. Pro tip then is, at least in regulation (unlimited ships may be too fast for this to be practical) - when you drop out of SC at the station, boost once, then get docking permission, quickly check the pad number against a suitable diagram, for example ..

.. and then, if it's a pad right at the back, quickly cancel and re-request docking, while still boosting and flying quickly and accurately towards the mailslot (obviously the latter is all easier said than done - hence pro tip).

Personally I like the "Ring 1b" pads best although I'll take a "Ring 2" or "Ring 1a" in desperation.

12, 13, 36 are the ones I always aim for. 1, 16, 31 are instant no. Everything else I will settle for if needs must.

I was just flying the course to make sure I'd scanned all the systems and could sell the data before the inevitable, when I almost got mown down by Shaye!

I was just undocking and thought I'd scan a couple of the ships on my way out of the station, thought it was a bit odd to see a Cobra, Keelback and DBX huddled close together waiting to leave. As I went to go past them I suddenly noticed a Green target approaching very quickly, and saw the name Shaye Blackwood! I slammed the down thruster and just managed to duck below the entrance to the mailslot as Shaye came blasting though.

Made sense why all the NPCs were balled together now 😂

I also saw New Model 15 after their return from jail ;)
